Top Obama counterterrorism adviser John Brennan says the Justice Department made the decision to handle the case of Detroit terror bomb suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab in the criminal justice system.
Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Brennan was asked why the Obama administration did not choose to treat Abdulmutallab as an enemy combatant. "He was arrested on U.S. soil," Brennan answered. "The Department of Justice makes that determination about what is the best tool to use."

Of course, the President of The United States has absolutely NO influence over the Justice Department. It’s not like its head works for th POTUS or anything....
Personally, does not matter who made the decision: The simple truth and FACT here is that liberalism has long viewed and treated international terrorism as a law enforcement action, thus why this terrorist, among other terrorists, are given access to our civilian justice system.

The Justice Dept (aka Eric Holder) makes no decisions without the approval of his masters.

Terrorists seem to be gearing up on BO’s watch. We have had 8 years of no attacks because perhaps the would be terrorists were a tad bit afraid of retaliation from the Bush administration. Well they aren’t afraid anymore and they can be sure that they will not be waterboarded and that they will have the rights of American citizens if they are caught trying to kill American citizens. In early December a man wearing an elf costume at the Southlake Mall in Atlanta got in the line to have his picture taken with Santa.
He told Santa that he had dynamite in his bag.
The 5 foot ,108 lb man was quickly subdued by mall security and did not have dynamite or any weapons.
The elf has been charged with making terroristic threats.
The elf should have claimed to be a Muslim terrorist , actually had a bomb,
shouted Alluhu Akbar at Santa and Barry and Eric would have rolled out the red carpet.
