Federal agents are now investigating reports of possibly eight threatening letters with a white substance in at least four Alabama cities this morning, an FBI official confirmed.
Angela Tobon, media spokesperson for the Mobile FBI, said the letters were all mailed to federal offices and "are all the same ...white powder with threatening letters," she said.

Wondering if you might be right...
I can imagine lots of harmless “white powder” being sent all over, with newsies intone about the “right-wing-loonies/fundamentalists/militia/bible-thumpers/gun-nuts” trying to cause disruption. We all become hypnotically calmed, as there is nothing to be alarmed about, right?
And all the while, the moosles snicker, as they prepare more envelopes to mail, some of which do contain nasty substances. The ensuing chaos will do some real damage to daily routines everywhere.
Have the flu, am probably hallucinating from the fever. Don’t mind me.
The power was out in DC today for about an hour they don’t know why-someone is messing with us-don’t ya think??
Odd how that coincides with Reagan Airport
Thanks for the ping, JustPiper.
Will be following this closley. Something doesn’t *feel* right to me and I hate it when I have that feeling.
hmmmm
I start most every day with a Monster. I have not been sick since June. Not even a sniffle. I buy the green in cases, but wish I could find the orange in cases as it has a better taste.
It is the wonder product that does many things just like Windex, Duct tape and WD-40. I suspect that when frozen, it could be used as a weapon.

It wasn’t me!
UPDATE:
FBI reports((( 9 ))) threatening letters found across Alabama at congressional offices
I fear this is a scene we will be seeing much of in 2010
No congressman handled the letters or came anywhere near the letters,
All of the letters were postmarked from different post offices around Alabama and had similar markings, Regan said. Investigators believe that all of the letters came from the same person.
One envelope was discovered in Birmingham on Sunday at the office of U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Alabama. That discovery prompted the shutdown of the Robert S. Vance Federal Building through at least today.
Envelopes were discovered today in Montgomery at the separate offices of Shelby, U.S. Rep. Bobby Bright, Democrat; and U. S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Alabama.
Also, envelopes were discovered at the offices of U.S. Rep. Jo Bonner, R-Mobile, in Mobile and Foley; at Shelby's office in Mobile; and two at the office of Mike Rogers, R-Anniston, in Anniston.
