Scandal-Plagued Democrat Senator Chris Dodd Retires at Lowest Point in Career

Scandal-Plagued Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut retires at the lowest point in an overly long, 35-year, political career. The son of a career politician (his father occupied one of Connecticut's senate seats for 12 years), Dodd has seen his already overly long, Senate career deteriorate among many scandal-plagued issues in the last few years, thus leading to some of the worst poll numbers of his career and a near-impossible matchup against his potential, Republican challenger for his seat. Though Democrats gave Dodd a big role as one of the primary advocates of the ill-fated healthcare "reform" pushed by Obama—how they seriously thought that would rehabilitate his damaged image is beyond me, considering Obamacare is very unpopular with the American people—it nonetheless failed to turn around his sagging fortunes.

These retiring Dems are incredibly dangerous as they won’t have to face the wrath of the voters after they turn us into a Socialist country.

Assuming this report is accurate, one reason why he won't seek reelection may have to do with the following: What the Dems know that we don't: Universal Voter Registration. Whoever runs will need at least some name recognition given that person will have less than 10 months to campaign.

We need to promote a new term, "Checkbook Conservatives".

I like that.....would resonate with many people IMO.

Strategy for the next election should be Nationally based,Vote against any and all democrats because they will rubber stamp Obamas marxist policies. If they dont Local Popular Democrtas can win,Republicans only Hope is to tap the anger of the Violations of the Constitution that are rampant bt the Democrat run Government.
An example is Dodd not running and Attorney General Blumenthal now running described by the Media as the Most Popular Politician in the State, well the first and only Question I would pound him with is he going to Rubber stamp Obamas socialist Policies and As an Attorney Is This Health Care Debacle Constitutional?
This is the only way the Country has to stop the destruction of our Country

Crap, that is not good. We could have beat him with a republican. Now, Blumenthal or some other liberal rat will be able to win.

was hoping that this POS would face the voters but like all weak cowards, he quit in the face of adversity. Wonder what ambassadorship he’ll get?

The son of a career politician (his father occupied one of Connecticut's senate seats for 12 years)

The father was kicked out of the Senate. Dodd junior should have been too, for his over-friendly relations with Countrywide. The man had the gall to run for president in 2004. Fortunately even Democrats saw through him: I think he got about twelve votes in Iowa.

I don’t know about Connecticutt, but here in New Jersey, if a corrupt Democratic politician retires, all prosecution immediately ceases, then they give you some cushy non-elected position ripe with graft opportunities and they name some hospitals after you.

Blumenthal is a slimy POS who makes Schumer a wallflower when it comes to cameras. The statist crap he's pulled here will no doubt continue or intensify in the Senate. He wins AG with nary a challenge and will probably pull this one off. Looks like the Dems had an ace and played it. Photobucket

I kinda sorta thought the same thing. But then I saw this: 3 Democrats — 2 senators, 1 governor — to retire (AP) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100106/ap_on_el_ge/us_democrats2010 At a time when there is a strong opportunity to overturn the House and Senate, there are lots of announcements of rats leaving the ship? I'd like to chalk it up to they heard the bell toll, but I am more prone to wonder ...what's up with that? I have a feeling this doesn't appear to be as it shows itself.
