Watch To Have and Have Not - You can see that Bogey’s been smitten
I’m not either per se. But the main guy was so appealing and the premise was so far out (serving eviction notices to aliens) that I couldn’t help but like it. Btw, someone posted that the guy who played Vickers had never acted before. If true, wow, talk about a natural.
I agree with 100%! This was my exact impression when I saw the movie. It is quite visually stunning (which is obviously the big draw to this movie). But, if you have any current political awareness, the message hits you over the head like a sledgehammer.
These hollywood liberal directors know their message will be rejected by most Americans unless the message is packaged with a pretty bow.

I guess the name ‘Vickers’ is tongue-in-cheek.
It was a quasi Victorian/Edwardian melodrama. Plucky lower class heroes standing up against the powerful forces aligned against them are a staple of such enterprises. Balzac, Dickens...
I really don’t care, I spent over $100 dollars taking several grandchildren to see it............TWICE!!!
I thought it was an excellent movie.
AND I VOTED FOR REAGAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unlike some here, I go to movies to be ENTERTAINED.
;-)
How so?
Wow, for here you’re a rare breed. You should work more on your agendas and knee-jerks.
Unfortunately there are as many dysfunctional folks on the conservative side of the aisle as the liberal....
Retired Shrink here ;-)
I did not find Vickers appealing at all, without divulging any spoilers. From nearly the start I was sympathizing with the aliens, while skeptical of their presence, and utterly appalled by mankind’s collective (it would appear) lack of intellectual curiosity and empathy. But in today’s society, not surprising.
Hat tip to one “Lazarus Long” over on the BH site for this post:

LOL!
Perfect. Hard to believe this tripe is getting people to pay to watch it.
Me too. That is one of the reasons it annoys me when the creators of a movie that I pay money to see for entertainment try to preach at me in condescending terms about how superior other cultures are to mine.
You must have seen the 3 D version....mine didn’t have that.

You won’t win this ya know.
Don't laugh, but I actually found that movie quite good -- the Stooges were more subdued than usual, good script.
Yeah. Great flick too. Though not very close to Hemingway’s excellent book
Well as of yesterday, AVATAR has done $1.1 BILLION world wide......
BTW have you actually SEEN THIS MOVIE????
