This is going to offend many of us who are b.ca. survivors and who are pro-life, never had an abortion(s) or ever contemplated one.

There may be other connections i.e. not breast feeding and having a genetic pre-disposition.

I just hope the study is comprehensive; i.e. what percentage of child-bearing women in the general population have had abortions and what percentage will have breast cancer. Impossible to predict.

Sorry about your illness and hope it’s all gone.

That said, we should never be offended by truth. There are, no doubt, multiple risk factors and triggers for the disease, and we need to know what they are.

Most abortions take place early in pregnancy when hormone levels are very high. Killing the baby would certainly cause a shock to the endocrine system, and it makes sense that hormone-sensitive cells might be affected.

I agree with the poster who mentioned spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) as likely having the same effect.

It’s no reflection on you. Non-smokers get lung cancer, too.

It should not offend anyone who has had breast cancer and is prolife. I lost a sister-in-law to breast cancer, she was never able to have children and adopted. she was incredibly pro-life. That abortions might lead to breast cancer doesn’t mean that everyone who has ever had breast cancer must have had an abortion.

I am a BC survivor and I am not offended by the truth. I read the research awhile back, and it is compelling. Can’t remember about the spontaneous miscarriage effect, if it is the same as for the elective abortion. I believe it’s a matter of how many times you abort throughout your life (miscarriages included). BTW, I breastfed both my children until they were two, so there goes that theory. It’s all about informed consent and telling women the potential risks. Many will still go ahead and do what they’re going to do, but at least they can’t say they weren’t warned.

If you never had an abortion then why on earth would it be offensive? Don't warn women that they risk an increase of cancer because you don't want anyone to have a thought that you may have had an abortion?

This connection has been well-established for years. It does not counter the equally well established fact that diseases like cancer are usually multiply determined. There is absolutely no reason for a rational person to be "offended" by the truth. People get lung cancer without smoking too, but that doesn't mean smoking is unrelated to lung cancer.
