A 2009 spending spree has left the Republican National Committee (RNC) with its worst election-year cash flow this decade.
The largest GOP party committee has $8.7 million in the bank heading into an election year with 37 governors races, a dozen major Senate contests, dozens more in the House and an all-important redistricting cycle on the horizon.
Said one RNC official: It is very troubling, and the thing is, most people dont understand this. But it is really troubling.

Get rid of Steele - replace him with Palin and watch the rivers of cash flow.
Every time I get one of those stupid requests for money disguised as a survey from Steele I send it back with my thoughts... and without donations. They need to get a grip on reality.
NY23 Scuzzafuzza, Republican(?) who campaigned for teh Democrat after dropping out. And Steele, a coupla days ago, said he doesn’t know if the GOP is ready to take back the reins of power.
I just called his office to ask and one of his staff said that he was too busy schilling his book to be bothered but will get right on it when he gets a free moment. /sarc
Do folks think it is wrong that the RNC ran more ads in 2009 to fight against the healthcare debacle? I’m no supporter of the RNC; I’m just curious what portion is increased expenditures and what is reduced income.
I should have said “stop donating to the party.” I, too, am donating to individual conservative candidates, just not the to the GOP. Never again.
re: directly to selected conservative candidates but nothing to the RNC
Me too! Me too!
A 2009 “spending spree”? On what? A new limousine for Steele? Last time I checked, there weren’t a whole lot of elections in 2009.
I saw Steele on one of the Fox shows last night trying to defend the Republican policies, and when asked by Greta why we’d be against laws stopping smoking in restaurants, was completely unable to explain. He went on some tangent about gay marriage. Like every other RINO, he’s completely unable to fathom the idea of private property rights. Just one more example of our GOP leadership being clueless. Until the GOP gets a clue, they can pan-handle under a bridge, for all I care.
Allow me to explain ... when the RNC quits enabling this:
their cash flow will improve
“re: directly to selected conservative candidates but nothing to the RNC
Me too! Me too!”
Ditto.
Hey RNC. Can you here us now?
I’ve seen that video several times; wish there was a new one.
“Not another nickle till they clean up their act. Michael Steel should be the first to go.”
Fund raising was Steel’s number one priority and he has failed miserably!
I was sonetihing the other day about SarahPAC supporting Senators MacCain and Graham? Do you know anything about that?
This is so easy to fix that even a caveman could do it.
-Dump Steele.
-Install competent, capable, hard driven, aggressive and take no prisoners conservative leadership.
-Set the example and be on the offensive... quit the soft talking defensive crap.
-—”Don’t hug a RINO..Hit ‘em”. Knock their stinking heads off.-—
-Completely ban kissing up or in anyway supporting libs, or any part of their agendas.
-Project a winning attitude in every way... failure is not an option and compromise of our principles is not on the table. That message must be clear and reinforced in everything we do.
-Make folks confident and proud to belong on our team.
Bottom-line... we don’t have much time and it will soon be to late.
Folks need to realize, believe, and know all the way to their souls that 2010 and 2012 is for all of the marbles. Our freedoms, liberty and our very existence as the United States of America is truly at the edge of the cliff and near falling into the abyss.
We can win. We can win all of this.... but we have to come together, want to win and fight like hell to win. This is no longer a political game, this truly is survival.
I won’t give those liberal bastards one cent!
Agreed. Have always thought all along Sarah would kick butt, take names and clean up the RNC. She’d be fantastic in that role.
