Over the years, Ive had conversations with Europeans about gun control. Not surprisingly, they have been very critical of Americas gun culture that is, the widespread ownership of guns among the American people. They have extolled the situation in Europe, where gun-control laws preclude people from freely owning guns, arguing that such laws make for a more peaceful society.
My response to such Europeans has included the following: The big advantage we have over you is what happens if a tyrannical regime ever takes power. Except for Switzerland, where most families are well-armed with assault rifles and handguns, Europeans have but one choice when faced with the rise of a tyrannical regime: submit and obey or be killed. Americans, at least, have one final choice resist with guns.

There is no 'if' in Europe where socialist misery with its varying degrees of window dressing is a fact of life - aided in no small part by a cowed, defenseless citizenry.
Anyone is welcome to come and take my guns, but they best be prepared to pay the price that I will require.
Waco anyone? I feel we’re doomed. Socialism is being installed tiny bit by tiny un-noticeable bit.
The Founders created the 2nd amendment for two reasons: to enable the people to defend the country from invasion/Indian attack and to provide the means to overturn a tyrannical state. Of course you’ll find none of this taught in our schools.
Amen! Come and Taken Them!
Well we do have another incompetent, crazy-eyed lesbian in this administration. In hindsight Janet Reno could be counted on to focus on small groups like the Branch Davidians and imaginary cases of child molestation while ignoring the lawlessness of her bosses. Napolitano, on the other hand, has repeatedly cast the eye of suspicion on millions of Americans (let us not forget her first set of foibles with so-called right wing dissidents) and is now demonstrating that she can't lead a fish to swim.
>>when faced with the rise of a tyrannical regime
Very few Europeans (and about 52% of Americans) believe that they will never live under tyranny again so the whole “guns or tyranny” question is ridiculous to them. They fully embrace the nanny state and don’t really consider any loss of freedom as a bad thing as long as the government keeps on giving them the short work weeks, long vacations, and a cornucopia of handouts.
“Of course, there are many American gun-control types who say, Well, that sort of thing could happen in Iran or Europe or elsewhere, but it could never happen here in the United States. That position, needless to say, is the height of naïveté. Anything is possible. Human nature is human nature. Theres nothing special about American human beings as compared to other human beings.”

I’m not so sure he’s correct in that. Even my wife and I, who have no real interest in hunting, (though we do love fishing), bought a shotgun last year as “insurance”. Then of course we ended up joining the NRA and now......I’m looking at a carbine. Maybe there is something “special” about “American” Human Beings; there certainly seems to be something in our DNA that resists gov’t over reach. Everybody in our neighborhood is armed to the teeth; has CHL and spends time at the range. And......we’re rather proud of that!
Here in America we have been blessed with a substantial black population since our inception. Any honest evaluation of crime statistics will show that this group has had a huge disproportionate impact on our violent crime rate. (FBI crime stats show that blacks, who make up 13% of the population committed 52% of the murders. An astounding 92% of black murder victims were killed by other blacks.)
Because their politicians are even more evil and idiotic than ours the nations of Europe are importing third-worlders an an astonishing rate. These new citizens bring the 'African disease' of hyper-violence and crime with them. That's why there is now a 'rape crisis' in Sweden, just like the endless legendary one in South Africa, where Time Magazine reports one in four men admit to rape! This has been reported by no less a liberal organization than Amnesty International, not a right-wing web site.
So the answer to liberal idiots in Europe bleating on about our 'gun culture' is this: you may not have needed guns in the past, but trust us on this, you will soon. Give it another decade and you will be trying to figure out how to reverse your gun laws so that you have some way of protecting yourselves and your loved ones against the crime wave you have created.
Right now the process is a little less un-noticeable.
>>Liberals and Euro-Weenies love to say that American needs “sensible” gun control laws. They can stick it.
We do need “sensible” gun control laws.
For example:
You MUST hold a pistol so the sights are on top when you shoot.
Calling a magazine a clip is a misdemeanor punishable by a smack in the back of the head.
I think Jeff Cooper had a bunch of “sensible” gun laws too.
Culture, not color, determines behavior! I'm a white man and I'M OFFENDED by your ignorance!
If you are offended, then refute the facts and statistics he quotes. Otherwise, what you are doing is attacking the messenger. I also find it offensive, but it is the facts that are offensive, not the reporter.
Like she’s holding....I’d take a good Garand with some good black tips over an M4 any day.....SS109s even though they are steel core don’t have the blockbusting punch of an ‘06 black tip...
Lets assume, for example, that a regime assumes power in a European country that will not permit elections, abolishes civil liberties, takes command and control over the economy
Takes command and control over the economy Check, Auto companies, banks, healthcare, the rest with CO2 regs
Abolishes civil liberties - flag@gov for starters
That will not permit elections we'll all have to see if the National Socialist Democrat Party do on that.
Anyways, here are some Experts on the subject of Tyranny what do that say about Guns:
Every Communist must grasp the truth that political power grows out of the barrel of a gun. Mao Zedong
Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas. Joseph Stalin
One man with a gun can control 100 without one. Vladimir Lenin
A system of licensing and registration is the perfect device to deny gun ownership to the bourgeoisie
Vladimir Lenin
We want them registered - Nancy Pelosi
