"Why is it so darned COLD? I was told by a liberal friend (no I anot making this up!) that:
"because we have had some much Global Warming this last year that the Ice Caps are melting and making the seas colder thus it makes the climate colder and that is the real danger of Global Warming/Climate change..."

Too many slackers are failing to pull their weight. Some of us are just going to have to emit double the amount of CO2 this year if we want things to get warmer.

We have had negative NAO's during solar maximum and solar minimum. And we have had negative NAO without record cold. It is however interesting to note that 1963 record cold in Scotland occurred with a negative NAO that also occurred during a solar minimum. The record cold in the US during 1978 occurred with a negative NAO and a sunspot cycle that was just coming out of a minimum. So perhaps the combination of the two means cold (negative NAO while near a Solar Minimum).

While comparing the two charts above, the following can be observed. During Solar Minimums the Earth tends to experience more negative NAO’s then positive. During Solar Maximums the Earth can experience Negative and Positive NAO’s.

I means that it is Winter and the weather and climate is variable for reasons that are not fully known.
