The Christmas Day terrorist attempt by a Nigerian Muslim on a U.S. airliner has reignited the debate on racial and ethnic profiling in airports, but most Americans agree that profiling is necessary to ensure airline safety.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 59% of adults say factors such as race, ethnicity and overall appearance should be used to determine which boarding passengers to search at airports. Twenty-six percent (26%) say these factors should not be used to determine which passengers to search. Another 15% are not sure.
Interestingly, however, even more Americans (71%) believe such profiling is necessary in today’s environment. Eighteen percent (18%) disagree and see profiling as an unnecessary violation of civil rights

Men feel more strongly than women that profiling is necessary in the modern environment. Sixty-eight percent (68%) of men say profiling should be used to determine which boarding passengers to search, but just 51% of women agree.
Sixty-two percent (62%) of whites and 52% of those of other races say profiling should be used at airports. African-Americans are more closely divided on the question.
Republicans feel more strongly than Democrats and adults not affiliated with either party that profiling is necessary in today's environment and that it should be used to determine which boarding passengers to search. Still, a majority of Democrats and unaffiliateds agree with both these positions.
Nearly half of likely voters (46%) believe current airport security measures are not strict enough.
Following the Christmas Day incident, 79% said it was likely another terrorist attack on the United States could take place within the next year.
In November, 63% of voters said political correctness prevented the military from responding to warning signs from a Muslim U.S. Army officer, Major Nadal Malik Hasan, that could have prevented the Fort Hood massacre from taking place.
An earlier survey found that a plurality (48%) of adults believe it is the responsibility of American Muslims to speak out against terrorist attacks on the United States.
Forty-nine percent (49%) of Americans think that most of their fellow countrymen have already forgotten the impact of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in which 3,000 died.

I cannot believe that anyone except the terrorists would be against profiling. There comes a time when certain actions are necessary, and it is now time...long overdue. This is war, whether Obama thinks so or not. It is war.
It’s not so much racial or ethnic profile that is needed, but religious profiling. Unlike their Muslim neighbors, Coptic Christians from Egypt and Maronite Catholics from Lebanon have never conducted suicide bombings.
I don’t have a problem with profiling Muslims or people with Muslim names. Sorry sir, but we’re going to have to ask you a few questions. Then profile for people coming from known terrorist countries, people who buy one-way tickets with cash, people with no luggage, people who look nervous or brainwashed. Use the Israeli model. Look them in the eye and ask them the hard questions. If they are offended, they can travel on some other medium. You want to get on this plane, we’re going to look up your butt and dig into your thoughts.
These results fit in nicely with how we feel about the closing of GITMO, nationalized health care, and civil trials for enemy combatants. So it looks like profiling will never happen.

You don’t have to do racial profiling or ethnic profilin. The Israelis learned after the Lod Airport massacre in 1972 the 1972, in which three members of the Japanese Red Army, on behalf of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, (PFLP) killed 26 people and wounded many others, that you couldn’t just worry about Muslims.
Their methods, which make El Al the safest airline in the world, are “observationl profiling” which takes note of a lot of factors that rely more on the psychopathy of a terrorist than where he’s from or how he worships.

It is time for you to speak out and speak out loudly against Farakan and his teachings and terrorists that are from Africa nations and support profiling of any race, religion, sex or sect that wants to destroy America.
It is time for you to speak out against those in the Democratic Party that seem bent on making every political difference into a war on race. Those who continually call anyone that disagrees based on ideology, racists just because they disagree. It is time for you to speak out against African Americans who put race before God, race before Country, race before upholding the law, and race before moral values.
It isn’t profiling that has kept blacks in ghettos, uneducated and not succeeding. It is their leaders and the Democratic Party.
It isn’t the judicial system that has allowed the percentage of incarcerated blacks to be much higher than any other race, it is their leaders and the Democratic Party.
It isn’t White America that who have taught them to hate anyone that is not African American, and who have taught them that because of their race they can’t possibly succeed without the help of the Democratic party and their self appointed leaders and the government.
There are millions of Americans who would support and help African Americans rid their neigborhoods from drugs and violence, rid their schools from initimidation and threats of violence when students try to succeed, start teaching morals and values such as marriage.
They would roll up their sleeves, be proud to call you brother or sister and work along side you for the benefit of every African American in the nation because they know that the hate and dependence taught by their self appointed leaders and the Democratic party is the real problem.
The very people that the Democratic party and the MSM call racist are the very people who believe that black Americans are just as smart, just as capable and just as equal as any other race and can make it on their own with hard work, good morals and a positive attitude.

No, I really don’t see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people.. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President’s security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone lest they be guilty of profiling.
