Mexican ambassador: US immigration reform unlikely in 2010 due to unemployment, elections

MEXICO CITY — Mexico's ambassador to the United States said Friday he expects immigration reform is unlikely to pass in that country in 2010 because of unemployment and midterm elections. In an unusually frank assessment, Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan said Mexico will continue its quiet, "under the radar" lobbying for a reform that would benefit...Mexicans living in the United States. A large percentage are undocumented.

"It's not that it is unachievable. It is possible, but it will be difficult," he told a news conference...."If the (U.S.) economy grows, but there continues to be the unemployment and the job losses that occurred in the United States in 2009, it is politically impossible ... to put an integrated immigration reform on the table," Sarukhan said.

Sarukhan also said past pronouncements on the issue by Mexico may have done more harm than good.

"Having spoken about it publicly at times in the past ... has done a great deal of damage to our countrymen and our allies in the United States," he said.

Sarukhan said a general amnesty that would automatically legalize undocumented migrants "cannot be the solution," because "the radical conservative wing in the United States would immediately mobilize to torpedo it."

He said a more realistic goal is a program of temporary work visas and a "regularization process" — presumably, what has been called "earned legalization" involving fines or other qualifying factors.

Sarukhan said chances for reform may depend on how much political capital the administration of President Barack Obama has left after the divisive debate over health care.

Daniel Hernandez Joseph, director of overseas citizen protection services for Mexico's Foreign Relations Department, told reporters that anti-immigration rhetoric "has permeated in (U.S.) society" and that anti-immigration groups in the United States currently "feel empowered."...

Quietly lobbying the American government to provide benefits for Mexicans living in the US at the expense of the American people. Also, new weasel word phrase for amnesty: "integrated immigration reform."

Invading bastards. “Our countrymen” “Our allies”.

What kind of leader encourages his own people to leave their own country?

the only thing it benefits is the failed Country of Mexico,
without the pressure release valve the USA has offered to the Mexican economy, Mexico would be in worse shambles than it is right now.

No kidding. Fortunately he isn't bright enough to keep his mouth shut now.

I saw a report on Univision news a couple of days ago about the MILLIONS of jobs Mexico has lost and is losing to China. The flood of illegals is only going to get worse as the full impact of this hits.

The only reform needed is to actually enforce our immigration laws.

Part of hte reason we have such high unemplyment is because of the ILLEGAL immigrants.

In the long run, plugging the pressure release valve would be a good thing.

Right now they’re in a win win situation. Our government gives them billions and billions flow in in the form of remittances. The cartels are also paying off officials. Plug the pressure release valve and cut off the flow of money and they’ll find the will to fix their country.

Come come Ambassador Sarukhan, Rome wasn’t destroyed in a day and neither will the U.S. Be patient for crying out load. First we must pass our healthcare take over so we can control every aspect of our citizens lives. Then we must Cap & Tax the dog $hitt out of what’s left of the economy then finally we can open the flood gates and legalize the 30 to 50 million future democrates, er I mean illegal Mexican aliens so we will have power in perpetuity. Please learn to prioritize!

AZ’s Governor stated that she was in favor of limiting welfare benefits to legal citizens. What is the status of that, do you know?

If I were a Mexican, I would look at the US and be hesitant to jump from the frying pan into the fire. Yeah, yeah, zerO and the donks are long on promises, but they betray every promise they make, even to their own base. Having experience with oligarchs, how could Mexicans trust ours?

Up here in the frozen North, I see fewer Mexicans in the stores. I have no way of telling who is legal and who is not, of course, but there are definitely fewer. Our Walmart has discreetly put the huge bags of dried chilies somewhere less obvious than before and the Goya aisle, in the store I frequent for wonderful produce, seems to have less items that are marketed only to immigrants (Mexican sodas and snack foods) and mostly stocks the red sauce and taco fixings that everyone uses. The Indian and Asian aisles are as full as usual and I do see people of those nationalities, but they are mainly middle class in appearance, with fewer kids in tow.

“under the radar”? Under who’s radar? A blind, deaf, mute can see the garbage they are trying to pull. Please.

“Daniel Hernandez Joseph, director of overseas citizen protection services for Mexico’s Foreign Relations Department, told reporters that anti-immigration rhetoric “has permeated in (U.S.) society” and that anti-immigration groups in the United States currently “feel empowered.”..

No, sir, what has ‘permeated’ our society, are your criminal border jumping, squatting citizens. We pay their healthcare, education, food, criminal costs and thousands of us have paid with their lives.

The dems & Mexico are counting on these so called ‘conservatives’ to get amnesty through.

January 4, 2010

A major effort to swing at least five key Republican senators behind immigration reform will be the key task of Senator Charles Schumer of New York, who is leading the effort in the senate to create new legislation.

Tens of thousands of Irish undocumented are among those anxiously awaiting new efforts this year to bring about reform. The last effort to create a bill, called the Kennedy/McCain immigration bill failed when Republicans refused to support it.

However, the new bill, which Senator Schumer and aides to President Obama are working on, will have strong enforcement measures in it in addition to a plan to legalize those here illegally.

President Obama has given a commitment to take up the issue soon after his health care reform bill passes, as is generally expected.

Schumer is counting on Republican Senator Lindsay Graham of South Carolina, who has indicated that he will support a new bill that has strong enforcement measures and ensures that illegal immigration will be much harder after the bill passes.

“Schumer wants to show that legalizing the undocumented is actually good national security policy, as well as making it clear that it will become much harder for new illegals to work here if the new bill is passed” said a source.

Hispanic groups who have major clout with this White House are concerned that the proposed bill leans too far in the enforcement direction.

*******Among other senators on the Republican side that Schumer hopes will be reachable are Senators Olympia Snow and Susan Collins in Maine, Senator George Voinovich in Ohio and Senator John McCain of Arizona, who sponsored legislation before.

A House bill has already been introduced by Congressman Luis Gutierrez of Illinois, a close supporter of President Obama.

What bothers me most, and which most people either don’t see or ignore, is the perception of immigration in Mexico and among the liberal elites. Just look at the ‘ambassador’s’ words...immigration legislation will benefit “MEXICANS” living in the United States. That’s what bothers me. It’s people coming to this country illegally with no intentions of becoming citizens in the first place. They just want the money so they can send it back the Mexico. That’s the problem with this legislation. The libs think they are helping these people become US citizens, when a lot of them could care less about the US, they just want work. The people who truly want to be US citizens and to become a true part of this great country, do it LEGALLY.

I cannot fault Mexican officials and the Mexican government when they look out for the best interests of and benefits for Mexicans. That is their appropriate role. What I do fault, to point of thinking it is criminal, is when US elected officials and the administration (and the mainstream media) are more concerned with the best interests of Mexicans — with providing them advantages and benefits — than they are with protecting the interests and well being of US citizens and taxpayers. Our government’s priorities are backward. OUR GOVERNMENT PUTS THE INTERESTS OF MEXICANS AND OTHER IMMIGRANTS AHEAD OF OUR INTERESTS, and has for several decades. Our government puts the interests of illegals, and illegal criminals, ahead of our very well being. If OUR OWN GOVERNMENT ISN’T REPRESENTING US, who is? Surely not the Mexican government. We don’t have anyone on our side.

I ranted about this very subject the other day. Promised myself I wouldn’t do it again. It’s simple. Illegal immigration is illegal. It violates our laws. Mexico needs to change the reasons why so many of it’s people are fleeing it. The answer is obvious but Mexicans refuse to see the reasons why their country is a failure and instead behave as the selfish, self-centered criminal culture they are. Worse yet their pugnacious, galling and intimidating insistence that they’ve a God-given right to invade our country is the sole reason I hate Mexico and its people.

The Mexicans, their government and their illegals, can only do what OUR GOVERNMENT ALLOWS THEM TO DO.

Rubbish. The reason Mexico is in the state it is is because of the people who live there. But thank you for making my point.

I have no idea what you mean. I did not mention the state Mexico is in. I am talking about our country. Illegal Mexicans can only invade our country because our government tolerates it and does not take the steps necessary to stop it. And I have no idea what point you think I made.

QUOTING FORMER CONG TOM TANCREDO (R-Colo)

“Juan Hernandez headed up the Mexican govt agency, "Ministry of Mexicans Living in the United States. Hernandez is a dual citizen of the United States and Mexico, and a good friend of then-presidents Bush and Mexico's Vicente Fox (and was presidential candidate John McCain's Hispanic outreach man)."

Hernandez explained to Cong Tancredo the purpose of the Mexican government agency "Ministry of Mexicans Living in the United States:"

(1) to increase the flow of Mexican nationals to the United States.....

(2) to serve Mexico’s needs.........

(3) to increase remittances to Mexico of $50 billion a year (30% of the Mexican GDP);

(4) to get US jobs for an exploding Mexican population, alleviating social instability due to rising unemployment;

(5) to get free US training for Mexicans, who are expected to return and repatriate those skills back to Mexico.

Hernandez supports amnesty he told Cong Tancredo, "By populating the United States with millions of Hispanics tied economically, politically and linguistically to Mexico, we are able to exert enormous influence and pressure on US policy and its dealings with Mexico."

SOURCE http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=33894

NOTE: " Exerting enormous influence and pressure on US policy and its dealings with Mexico" means extorting billions of US tax dollars to subsidize corrupt Third World federales.

We need to see audits of all these latino agitator groups to determine the extent of Third World government funding---as well as cell phone records and emails to gauge when the agitators get their orders from Third World governments.
