Theres a picture of a soldier from the Peoples Republic of China on this mornings Drudge Report, depicting, Internet style, how China has finally ended the U.S.s reign as the worlds largest auto market.
Had Drudge and Bloomberg.com, who broke the story been more journalistically correct, the lone soldiers picture would have been flanked by those of Obama bagman George Soros and UN Poster Boy, Canadian-in-China Maurice Strong.
For it is a matter of fact that the Peoples Republic of China did not naturally nor honestly win the race as worlds largest auto market, Soros and Strong made it happen.
The intent of the deadly anti-American duo back in 2006 was to flood the American market with cheap Chinese made cars.
While Chicoms in the automaking industry cheated by stealing blueprints from North American competitors, Soros and Strong were boasting about how cheap econo-box cars from Communist China would decimate Ford, Chrysler and GM.
The Poor Mans Wheels, the Chery originated from yet another copycat China endeavour. The Chery is a knockoff of the South Korean Spark, sold in the U.S. in partnership with General Motors.(Wall Street Journal, March 1, 2006. GM filed a lawsuit against Chery Automobile Co. for piracy of the car developed by its South Korean Daewoo.
This chain of events took place back in the days before Barack Obama became the proud owner of the American car industry...

unfortunately i have to agree.
Lets face it if we like it or not China has the best requirements to become the dominat super power in this world. Not that this is a good thing but from a cold hard political point of view. the have more then 1.300.000.000
people under total controll and can use and brainwash them in the direction they want. they don´t have to deal with opposition political partys, lawers, activists.... like we have. the standart chinese can be (and is) used just as a working drone. (most of them do not share this kind of individualism thinking “we” have). so this is definitely evil but this gives them a lot of power.
This is also why China is the world's largest market for sanitary sewer systems, potable drinking water, and any number of other things we take for granted here in the U.S.
Actually, I think you’re confusing culture with government control. A government as incompetent as the Chinese one has no real way of efficiently controlling 1.3 billion people in a command economy. It has been tried by the USSR and China in the 60s and 70s(Great Leap Forward...), and it leads to a total collapse of productivity. Moreover, worker drones with guns against their heads would be nowhere near as productive as the Chinese are now. China’s advantages are mostly cultural:
1. Strong work ethic (greater productivity per worker)
2. Tendency to obey Laws (lower law enforcement spending)
3. Largely mono-ethnic, mono-lingual(lower educational costs)
3. Frugality and high savings rate(obvious benefits :))
3. Emphasis on family and education (lower educational and social services spending)
I have a feeling we will all be owned by China one day.. Even the Islamo Fascists!
As a corollary, there is no real reason why the West is entitled to a first world level of technology or standard of living. The West needs to work hard, innovate, and compete to maintain their standing amongst nations.

I sort of agree with you, but not in a way that would not be very flattering to some working class Americans.
America's trade policies are often advised by those in the Harvard economic circles. They advise how America should set trade policies to best use her comparative advantage for exports and how to best use another nations comparative advantage for imports. In the end, there are winners and losers. America's technology driven producers become the winners, and unfortunately, many of the low tech producers, such as steel, becomes losers.
And in theory, retraining will be provided to help those in the low tech industries transition into the high tech industries. However, where the Harvard economic theories fall apart, is that not everyone in the low tech industries have the desire or capability to transition into high tech industries. This is not meant to insult some workers, but it is a brutal reality.
I was watching a news program once about how government funding helped a steel mill in the deep South. The owner/operator chastised those Harvard economists and said the Ivy Leagers should just keep their economic theories in the class room and "quit messing with everyone's lives". The owner/operation of the steel mill himself was someone who was rather gruff in his demeanor and it was difficult for me to picture him initiating a Silicon Valley upstart.
In the end, not everyone is able to or has the desire to write computer programs.
People always tell me that would Never happen.. China Needs US.. I seriously doubt they will always need us.

It's working out quite nicely, actually. You have to keep in mind, is that ALL major developed nations have seen a dramatic drop in auto consumption, from Japan, to Germany, to Russia, to France, etc. This is due to the fact that credit has dried up. And the loss of credit has more to do with the recent housing crisis and less with free trade.
The fact that China's auto market has become the largest is not a reflection on America. And its not being an apologist to suggest that a nation four times larger than the US have a larger auto market. Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. America will remain the SECOND largest auto market for many decades. China is four times larger, so people shouldn't be surprised or appalled.
China didn't acquire developed world auto production facilities. They acquired developed auto production know how, which is an intangible and can be duplicated many times over without lost to the original proprietor.
China's increase in auto consumption has nothing to do with the price flannel shirts in Montana.
The only thing lost in America, is the benefit of calling herself the largest auto market. And being angry about that is just being plain old prideful.
Plus, China still has spy’s in our country..
We have spy’s in other countries for Defensive reasons..
They have spies in other countries for Offense reasons.
It is interesting ‘cause making cars is not as hard as decades ago. If smart boys can do it in the garage, a billion-population country can do it in factories too.
If there is nothing improved in the industry for years, the technological advantage of developed countries may vanish gradually.
Though, Chinese cars are yet durable and safe enough to be competitive in the world market.
That does affect it too; I was just looking at it from as a simple numbers game.
