Palin 'thrilled' to join Fox News

After spending five months pondering a fat stack of TV offers, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has signed a multiyear deal with Fox News to serve as a contributor across all Fox News platforms.

“I am thrilled to be joining the great talent and management team at Fox News,” Palin said in the Fox announcement. “It’s wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balanced news.”

Palin, often described as having the hottest brand in American politics after President Barack Obama, was eagerly courted by both cable and broadcast networks, starting the day she announced she was leaving the Alaska governorship.

Bill Shine, Fox News’ executive vice president of programming, “Gov. Palin has captivated everyone on both sides of the political spectrum and we are excited to add her dynamic voice to the Fox News lineup.”

Fox said Palin will provide political commentary and analysis for Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, FoxNews.com and Fox News-produced special event political programming for Fox Broadcasting.

Palin will also host periodic episodes of Fox News’ “Real American Stories,” a series exploring inspirational real-life tales of overcoming adversity throughout the American landscape that will debut in 2010, the network said.

The Fox announcement continued: “Gov. Palin is the author of the current No. 1 New York Times best-seller, ‘Going Rogue: An American Life.’ Her book tour to over 30 cities attracted thousands of people and extensive media coverage.

“Palin was the first woman to serve as governor of Alaska. She was sworn in as the 11th governor of the state in 2006 and worked on improving resource development, education, health and transportation and infrastructure development.

In August 2008, then Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain selected Gov. Palin to run as his vice presidential candidate.

Prior to holding the office of governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council in Alaska as well as two terms as the mayor and manager of Wasilla and worked as an oil and gas industry regulator.”

>> BTW, Palin is a journalism major. <<

But by golly she can see Russia from her house don’tcha know... (Attributed to Tina Fey’s SNL skit)

Gee, she speaks with a Northern US accent she MUST be dirt stupid according to the MSM.

Also they forgot she was the poster child of the left for fighting the corrupt big oil RINo boys in Alaska, that was until she proved to be a threat to the Cho-SIMBA-One

Whoo-hoo! I can’t believe MSNBC and CNN didn’t ask her first.

You get the feeling she’s going to be extremely good at it. Has some experience and thinks real fast on her feet. Can overcome a faulty teleprompter, string a long sentence together and end it making a point. Telegenic.
Yes. She’ll do well, and convince people she’s too good to waste on tv commentary.

Of course it may be that she has no intention of running for POTUS in 2012 in which case, no problem.

I tend to agree with you, and that's not all bad, IMO. Although I'm a big Palin fan, I just not sure she's ready to run for POTUS. Would have liked her to get her feet wet in the Congress first. Now, though, not sure she'll be considered that serious for any government office, at least in the near future, but again, that may not be a bad thing.

We're thrilled for her, her family and conservatives, to have her join Fox News... :-)

That gives her 12 to 18 months of facetime on TV on a regular basis seen by millions each time, plus another bestselling book I’m sure, plus all of her speeches at various events, and campaigning in the general election. She’ll be excellently positioned to announce that she is running.

And your thinking that she won’t run is what?

Everything she has said and plans to do this year follows along lines of someone hedging on running,

How many times is this that someone claims ‘she isn’t running by such and such action? SHEESH!!

This news seems more like a political alliance than just a network deal -> a Palin-Fox/Murdoch alliance. Pretty awesome, and Palin needs that powerful support given the Republican Establishment and many Republican pundits won’t provide it.

I think it will work fine. It’s just a job, not a lifetime commitment. Like she said, she doesn’t need a title to make a difference. But having a podium doesn’t hurt ;-)

I was in broadcasting in the 60’s and 70’s and the rule then was you had to come off the air only after you qualified as a candidate and actually started running. Of course, there may be different rules in place today.

I am starting to think she’s not running in 2012. That will make a lot of heads at Free Republic explode.

I've suspected she wouldn't run ever since her interviews with Hannity and O'Reilly. I can't quite say what made me realize this, but it may have been the way she told one of them that she was happy with her life the way it was. That statement was, unlike the way most politicians would have said it, truly sincere. Running for president might undo that happiness, and I saw a woman ready to be out there speaking her mind and lending her influence for her country but not necessarily on a presidential ticket.

I was excited about her prospects in politics. I’m happy for her that she is pursuing her passions but I don’t see any benefit to conservatives to having yet another MSM personality.

Although lack of qualifications have never seemed to bother Fox News before.”

Lack of qualifications? Oh geez, my sides hurt from laughing. The lefties voted the least qualified person for president in the history of the US and now they want to throw out that qualificiations thingy.
