ALABAMA ELECTION CENTRAL

If we are going to make a difference in the upcoming election, we need to KNOW the candidates. Please post the names of ALL your Congressional candidates on this thread along with any and all information available.

We need names, positions, platforms, news articles, statements, pictures. We need to separate the RINOS from the Conservatives, and most of all, we need to get the liberals of either party OUT!

We can do this if you help. I have started this thread. All you have to do is contribute a little time and a little research. Help us help this country, and between us, we WILL take our country back!

Let's Do It!!!
Mesta

What about Tim James? Did Fob kill the James name?

If Tim James weren’t Fob James son he wouldn’t even be a serious contender for governor and as I recall both times Fob James left office very unpopular. The first time he decided to quit offhand. The second time he got walloped by Siegelman in a year that saw huge Republican gains in the legislature and historic wins in statewide races.

Not to mention James really was a lousy governor. Both times. The first time it really wasn’t his fault because the economy was crappy throughout his entire term. The second time was his fault because he never found a way to adequately compensate for all the factories that shut down and went to Mexico during his term.

James was terrible and he’ll never be that popular in urban areas. Byrne is a guy who can sell well to both country folk and city folk. Byrne is the man.

Immediately after I posted “if he’s going to sell us out he needs to way up that ante” I knew that I didn’t explain the outcome I would expect — that Shelby should know that he has no invitation or right to sell out our state without our permission (which he’s never asked for).

Knowing that he’s more than willing to sell us out, why sell us out so cheaply ? Does he think we’re that stupid ?

Shelby, as many bureaucrats, doesn’t consider his constituents. He thinks he knows what’s best for us when, in fact, he knows nothing about the majority in Alabama.

Send the bum home.

Thanks, then for the clarification. I’ve been so focused on the Obama disaster that I haven’t focused on the state offices at all, and I didn’t have any $$ in the PACT.

I am so with you on Shelby! We are blessed with Jeff Sessions. I contacted him often from Ill. beginning with the Clinton impeachment. And now I am so proud to call him MY Senator after having Obama & Durbin.

Fought Shelby's votes often on the illegal immigration issue. Shelby has since dramatically improved though.

His overall report card

BTW Jeff has a report card of A+ :)

I am not voting for Shelby again. He sells us out every time for cheap pork.

I will be voting Shelby and feel good about it. He has took some strong good conservative positions here lately. He has been hated for it, and not batted an eye.

I have a huge problem with Shelby and pork. Anyone who gets the amount of pork that Shelby does, even when he votes "no", has something else going on to warrant free handouts from the dark/other side. link to stats below: http://roaringrepublican.com/2009/03/04/republican-earmarks-in-the-2009-senate-omnibus-spending-bill/ Snippet from above link : Shelby #2 earmarker

And if Shelby gets voted out the state gets screwed. That’s just the truth. Shelby is one of the most conservative men in the U.S. Senate and even if you think we could get someone in there more pure the fact is Alabama will suffer greatly if he’s out of office.

One of the only reasons we even do as well as we do is that we’ve always had these long term Senators and Congressmen who are able to get a lot done for the state. Shelby is now what Heflin was in the 90’s, what Sparkman was after 1952, etal.

Last time we didn’t have a senior member in the Senate was in that period when it was Denton and Heflin and the saving grace for the state was that we did have guys like Bevill, Nichols and Edwards who were able to deliver when our Senators couldn’t.

Shelby is a conservative. He has been brilliant on the bailout issue. I may hate his association with trial lawyers but I know he’s right on most issues and I know Alabama will lose a lot when he’s out of office.
