Confederacy of Fools

Subject: A Confederacy of Fools. Author unknown.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

Telling a left wing rat he or she is a fool will only have the effect of furthering their conviction. I know this. They deal from an emotional basis, not a rational one. We need to construct an argument that is less obtuse in order to convince the Obamugabe constituency.

Obtuse? Is that like being nuanced? ;-)

A Take off on Toole’s “Confederacy of Dunces” novel. If someone offers you a signed first edition, don’t buy it.

It's a good opening line.

There’s a good argument to be made that the ‘bama is a symptom of what’s wrong, not the cause.

If we can't get rid of the Dept. of Education, then lets take it over. That is where the dumbing down begins.

—yep—when about seventy percent or so of the population doesn’t know how the water gets to the faucet, the light to the bulb or where it goes when they flush , it’s pretty difficult to have a rational discussion of real problems—

No its like saying Obama and the Dems lied to you and if you continue to vote for them you are a rube being played by the tools of big business and the Pharmaceutical industry. Oh no lib wants to be that. Use their own vanity against them.

When I'm forced to argue with a liberal I use the Libertarian angle. I start with we need to keep government and corporations off our back. We need to be able to make our own choices. Then once you have them nodding along nicely sprint the facts about Obama selling out to pharma and the lawyers on healthcare. Say how he moved billions to the big banks who then foreclosed on common people. Say how his free programs are actually going to cost them real money in the form of increased fees from every business. After all those greedy businesses don't pay the taxes they just pass them on.

This won't help with the most brain dead libs, but it will get some on the margins thinking.

The author is correct however IMHO we’ve passed the tipping point with trying to bring the “rabble” as I call them, up to sanity and personal responsibility. Gone is initiative and accountability and it’s been replaced by an entitled victim mentality (not my fault) who are moire interested in American Idol. This unfortunately isn’t isolated to minorities although the entitlement mindset is more pervasive there. We need to expect that just “taking back the country” from the current commie crowd will not fix the problem. It will need to include getting this country back to a values based foundation. It will be a long and painful pull.

We can even survive that, but when most of the population below 40 know almost nothing about the American Revolution, the founding, the principles and reasons for limited government, but instead elect presidents like American Idol winners, we're in deep excrement.

For month I have been appending this to my e-mails:

Obama will be gone one day,
His voters will remain among us.

An ongoing problem that. It’ll need get confronted in a very personal way.
One at the time.

There are boundaries ...

Why do we need a Federal Dept. of Education at all?
Education is a States Rights thing. Most of the States to a Sucko Poor job, but it’s still a right of the States that should not be usurpted by the socialist Federal Government.

“Telling a left wing rat he or she is a fool will only have the effect of furthering their conviction.”

Exactly. You convert people with sugar not vinegar. Can the public smarten up? Only after it has been duped (I guess) — but people will still fall for strong emotion rather than logic and facts. Emotion is easy and pleasurable, facts and thinking are hard and requires work. Obama had emotional appeal on a number of levels: celebrity status for the general public, release from white man’s guilt for whites, savior of the economy and planet for workers and youth, sex appeal for women and Chris Matthews, “our boy is in” for the black community, “our boy is in” for the far left, etc. This covers a broad range of society and the appeal is emotional. When facts would have dampened the emotion tug, the MSM where quick to run interference. The public may have a short memory and, if times aren’t terrible, they may get seduced again to vote him in. We’ll see...

The way I heard it, Toole submitted his book to Simon and Schuster, but his contact turned out to be some kind of sadist. The publisher had Toole jumping all over the place; making changes, changing the changes, removing the changes, putting them back in, etc. Just torturing the guy for the fun of it, for a long time. Finally they rejected it. Evidently Toole started to fall apart right after that.

Today's self-described "progressives" are not progressive in their world view or ideology at all.

The philosophy of America's Founders was and is truly progressive, because for the first time in the history of the world it laid out a set of principles and ideas which, if embraced and incorporated into a structure for self-government, provided for the maximum degree of liberty and opportunity for individuals in a society. That was the set of ideas underlying the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution's provisions and limitations, and its goals were well-stated in the Constitution's Preamble.

What passes for "progressive" thought since the early 1900's is, in reality, regressive, and, in one form or another, has dominated and oppressed humankind throughout the history of civilization. It relies on "counterfeit" ideas which promise "benefits," but accumulates power among an elite ruling class of imperfect human beings, and denies the Creator-endowed life, liberty, and law which governs all.

The only progressive ideas available to American citizens today which allow liberty and opportunity are those upon which their liberty was formed in 1776 and 1787. They are the ideas which caused millions from the old world and from nations all over the world today to flee to America to participate in the "miracle of America." They have served as a "beacon of liberty" for over 200 years, and if articulated and explained to today's youth, they would be as revolutionary in 2010 as they were at the nation's founding!

The human mind and heart were made for liberty, and those who are exposed to its ideas will respond. If our citizenry is ignorant of those ideas, then it is the job of our generation--with all of our technology and abilities--to expose as many as we can to the Founders' revolutionary speeches and writings. To paraphrase a baseball thought: if we teach them, they will learn!

"Liberty and Tyranny," "Our Ageless Constitution," and other currently published texts are available for placing in churches, libraries and in the hands of family members and friends. Each of us can do something. See:
