I too am burdened with “unenlightened” in-laws. Husband is from RI - ‘nuff said - and one of nine kids: one is a union goon, another was teacher’s union teacher, one is gay and one is a big Obozo supporter/campaign worker at St. Anselm’s (yee gods, Catholic!) College. My side is to the right of Attila the Hun having been raise by a mother who survived WWII in occupied France - even tho we were growing up in the Peop’s Rep of CA. My college funds went to Ronaldus Magnus’s elections...good cause!
There is light tho on tyhe RI side - one of the grandsons - an ex-heroine user who’s father (my BIL) abandoned him as a baby - came up to me recently and announced that he is a conservative, even tho he works for the gay one...one family member at a time! Thanks for your reply. As our priest says, we can’t pick our relatives in inlaws, we inherit them. Which is why we need to carefully pick our friends.
The one sour note re my relatives last year, was the turning green for greed by one of my nephews and his wife. He became one of the founders of a green hedge fund, and he and his wife voted for 0b0z0 because of their Green Greed.
I am about the only relative, who still speaks to him. His wife’s relatives have cut them off like a green cancer. It has been tough for me as I have been like mentor for him for two decades. I haven’t heard from him since the week after Christmas. I sent him an email with all of the documented articles re the lies of the greens on global warming. I told him, he had better have a bail out option.
