A FRIEND'S LETTER TO OBAMA
Vanity ^ | 1-16-2010 | Anon

January 16, 2010

President Barack Obama 1600 Pennsylvania Ave Washington, D.C. 20500

Dear and Beloved Leader:

I am writing to agree with you and your White House staff concerning the use of the word “Czar” to give title to your 33-34 advisors. The word itself is offensive to most Americans who share your distaste for tyranny and recall the historic excesses of the ruling Russians. Recently I re-read some old cartoons by the late George Lichty in his series entitled “Is Party Line, Comrade” and realized that an appropriate title for your 33-34 advisors would be Commissar. An example would be: Comrade Commissar of Homeland Security or Comrade Commissar of School Safety for Comrade Children. Another might be: Commissar of Insurance for Americans and Non-Americans, or, Commissar of Climate Ideology, or Commissar for Special Taxation on Capitalists. These are but a few but I think you get my point of being politically correct in name as well as in thought policy.

Comrade President, you are without doubt the most successful instrument of change in my lifetime, just as promised in your campaign for office. While the drift toward Marxism in the United States has been certain and steady for most of the 20th century, it was far too slow for those who dreamed of a world united under one powerful government. You have managed to accelerate the decline of capitalism and the rise of another form of economic policy that has quickly led us to become a Fascist state in the true sense. Government control of capital, or the means of production. It must be acknowledged that it is not you alone but the Congress that has given you the extra-constitutional powers to achieve these “advances”. For decades the federal government has been composed of men and women elected by popular vote to fulfill an oath of office securing rights given by God under the U.S. Constitution but have chosen to ignore the document’s constraints on power of a central government. The fifty United States have been negligent in duty having been bought by handouts from Washington or falling down under intimidation. All of our offices have suffered from a shortage of men and women of good character. Voters, being uninformed and disinterested, have allowed the drift downward and now the sudden drop to a far lower state of affairs.

While I do not believe your presidency will accomplish all of your goals, or those of the organizations you represent, in just four years, it is possible that the wound to our nation is fatal and we will soon be merged into a utopian state that will see the end of a sovereign republic that has been a historic monument to advances in civilization with individual liberty coupled with individual responsibility being the key to success for over two centuries. The United States has been the hope of people worldwide who desire freedom to succeed in life, however defined, without the interference of an oppressive “big brother”. Change has come to America and we can no longer offer much hope.

The challenge for the ruling elite, made up of you and your commissars, along with the Congress and a lame judiciary, is to make this “new and improved” state survive without the complicity of educated and motivated American citizens. You may recall that never in history has a Marxist government been successful without the support of the treasury of the United States or the blood of Americans. Now this treasury is gone and we too are debtors in fact, far exceeding our GDP and have obligated generations of unborn taxpayers and soldiers. Perhaps we should stop killing them so they can help pay for our folly. We find ourselves now in perpetual debt and perpetual war. Good luck with that challenge, Comrade President.

Respectfully,

XXXX X. XXXXXX

P.S. As I am an old man who lives alone with little property and a lot of pain, I am somewhat immune to whatever retribution your commissars might think of to harass me for my statements. I still believe in exercising my rights as a native American to express my views.

Perhaps if ALL of us wrote Dear Leader a missive of this type, he'd be on the phone to Mayflower arranging for the move OUT of OUR WHITE HOUSE.

NAAAAAHHHHHHHH...

He is more of the Uhaul moving type. Mayflower transit has too much class to accept a move like this. Perhaps a Pack-Rat move as they seem tho like rats.

Good point.

By definition, there can really only be one tsar.

There was a banner pic posted here last year on FR from one of the Tea Party events with the caption ‘Twinkle, Twinkle little czar’. Wish I could find it again.

Yes, I think we had this discussion once last year. Commissar is exactly the right word.

Or, perhaps, Kommissar.

The word [czar] itself is offensive . . . [the] appropriate title . . . would be Commissar

Other administrations have had "czars." I don't mind the word. In the past "czars" were meant to go after illegal activity (drugs) and the failing government-controlled public education.

The posting goes on to describe the real problems with Obama's czars: they are indeed tending toward Stalinist-like shackles on the public. The public's concern should not be the title it should be the: fetters.

It's Obama's czar and fetters that worry me.

Happy,

No, darlin’, I didn’t write that one. An old friend and fellow freedom fighter wrote it. Amazing how many really good, intelligent folks you meet down here in the trenches.

I have, however, written a number of similar missives over the years to politicians and newspapers (many published).

Lota good they did, right?

The Committees of correspondence did a lot of letter writing.

But they didn't waste their efforts on trying to persuade the unpersuadable.

I think the time has come to correspond with like-minded individuals and formulate plans for the re-institution of the Republic and the Constitution.

I like the ideas that are coming out about the States recovering their 10th Amendment rights and roles.

Happy,
My late friend, Dr. Ed Opitz of FEE, ran something he called “The Nockian Society” (actually one corner of Ed’s desk there in Irvington, NY) in memory of the Christian libertarian (and, no, those are not mutually exclusive terms) thinker and writer, Albert Jay Nock.

Ed sent me an essay by Nock entitled “Isaiah’s Job” and whenever I get a bit down or blue at the rising tide of idiocy and outright madness about us, I read it again and am refreshed.

It’s rather long and so as to conserve Jim Thompson’s (LOL) bandwidth here, below find a link to one of several sites where it may be found.

May you also be refreshed and renewed for the continuing battle ahead.

Thank you for your kind consideration in pointing me to this essay.

It speaks to a truth that I live by which is "His lord said unto him, Well done, [thou] good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. " Matthew 25:21 There is really only One Source whose good opinion of any of us matters: that is the One we should be aiming to please in our life's efforts. I think often of the vertical effects that my efforts will create.

Will what I do matter to a fourth generation ?

Will it enable enough of The Remnant (as this essay describes it) to continue ?

The rest of it is "dross", or as my sister says, "it's all gonna burn."

Again, thanks.

I read the essay and related it to the “yeast in the dough” spoken of in the Bible.

Yeast is not “seen” as it works its purpose in the flour, but nevertheless is the agent that makes the dough rise; and in ths Biblical analogy, those who believe in Jesus Christ live in such a way that they act as the unseen element that lifts up the life around them. They are the Remnant.

Thanks for the post Dick. Read it and printed it out so that I can read it a few more times. Very thought provoking.
