SANTIAGO, Jan 17 (Reuters) - Conservative billionaire Sebastian Pinera won Chile's presidential election on Sunday, ending two decades of center-left rule in Latin America's most stable economy and the world's top copper producer.

Pinera won with almost 52 percent of the vote and his leftist rival, former President Eduardo Frei, quickly conceded defeat.

The victory by Pinera, a Harvard-educated airline magnate, marks a shift to the right in South America, a region dominated by leftist rulers from Venezuela to Argentina, although no major changes to economic policy are expected.

You’ll love it there. One of my buddies in Vancouver is Chilean and we all went there years ago. One part of it is covered in glacier and the other end is sunny as California. Breathtaking and lots of hot girls (cough)..

Over the last two years I have spent a lot of time talking with “the real economic man” behind Pinera. He says that there is no reason the Chilean economy can't be growing at 6%+ as opposed to 2 to 3% even in current slow times. It has just been bad management.

Even if he beats me ski racing (some times but often) I enjoy his great knowledge and passion to help Chile become what she can become.

Just got back from Chile with my wife and son. I have been there many times but it was her first. My father is Chileno and his whole family wanted Pinera! It is a great day for Chile!

Thanks! My visit is part of a cruise, and we're stopping in various ports in Chile: Puerto Chacabuco, Puerto Montt, Santiago, Coquimbo and also sailing through the Chilean Fjords, Patagonic Channel and Canal Moraleda.

I hope to get loads of good photos!
