Wrong on both counts..................
Rush messed up and put his foot in it with the way he made his message on this IMO.
Remember folks...his job is to critique other adults playing make-believe for mostly other adults. Expectations should be kept quite low.
What Rush said to a caller: The caller said that the white house had a web site set-up for donations to Haiti. Rush told
him there were other places to donate, like the Red Cross and some others meaning only that there were other places to
make a donation. HE DID NOT SAY TO NOT DONATE TO THE WHITE HOUSE !! The rest was added by the lib’s and the media.
Says a lot.
For what it’s worth, Whoraldo finished his show last night ripping into Rush for hating the Haitians. Whoraldo seemed to be high however, perhaps he had done some lines of coke before the show started.
Agreed ...
After seeing the plugs for the Red Cross on the weekend football games, I will go so far as to say do not donate to them. The part about donations going to Haiti and “other relief efforts” suggests that what is given with the intent of helping people in Haiti will be siphoned off for other purposes. Anything I give will go directly to charities that will send everything to the relief effort. My church has already begun to coordinate financial and material donations, and will send work teams in as soon as it is feasible. I will support these efforts long before I support “other relief efforts” with the Red Cross.
Not to make light of his condition, but that’s literally true. He hasn’t been able to speak for a few years now. We can still hear him type, though.
NO! What Rush said was that Obama has politicized everything, and by going to the WH website to donate, people are going to be used. Meaning .. if you go to the WH website and leave your email address, or any other personal information, the WH will use it (without your permission).
Rush’s contention is that the WH is trying to make people believe that it’s THE GOVT that should be doing all the donating to charity.
I know Ebert was not the only one who tried to take Rush’s words totally out of context, and accuse him of saying things he never said.
What is a “Roger Ebert”?
I’m pretty sure he looks the way he does because of his cancer treatments, which has weird side effects. I don’t think we serve our cause well by going after his altered appearance.
I’ll defend anyone who wants to slam Ebert over anything he’s ever said (about Rush or anything else.) But it’s more decent AND more effective to just stick to his words. And there’s certainly enough ammunition there.
I thought he was dead.
The idea is not to allow Obama the political glory, then?
I thought that the gummit of Haiti had pretty well handed affairs to Obama and he’s not being too friendly to private aid agencies.
Ebert knows that that is NOT what Rush said, but he couldn’t resist the opportunity to dump some good old liberal hate on Rush.
I don’t care if Obama gets political glory or not .. but why must the admin always make everything political.
There’s nothing political about Haiti. It’s a mess and it will take a lot of people and a lot of money to get things done. But .. if the aim is to make it look like it was the admin who did everything .. that makes it political.
Nobody needs to get any glory .. we just need to help the people survive .. the rest will take care of itself. It’s too bad we now have a govt who only sees things as “what makes me look good” .. instead of just doing good .. I find that extremely distasteful.
Well if a little preening on Obama’s part is the cost of an effectual operation in Haiti, so be it. There is a lot of room for follow-up aid which will come in over the subsequent months, and Rush is right to point out that Obama isn’t going to wait on getting private donations to spend on Haiti.
