Critics Decry Decision to Halt Deportations of Haitian Illegal Immigrants

The Obama administration's decision to allow illegal immigrants from Haiti to stay in the United States ... has prompted complaints among immigration policy critics that the temporary "timeout" will become permanent. ....are concerned that the 18-month window will be extended, as it often is for immigrants from other countries.

Those from Sudan, Somalia, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador all have the TPS designation.

"This is why TPS was created," said Roy Beck, of NumbersUSA. "The problem is we have (had) three straight presidents who made a mockery of TPS. They turned it into PPS -- a permanent protected status."

"... as currently structured it functions as a permanent amnesty for anyone 'lucky' enough to come from a country that suffers a disaster," Center for Immigration Studies director Mark Krikorian ...

"According to past history, they will never be deported," said William Gheen, Americans for Legal Immigration PAC. ...the administration should have delayed deportations for a month or two while the most intensive recovery efforts are underway, or sent illegal immigrants up for deportation to a part of Haiti not affected by the earthquake.

DHS Janet Napolitano said between 100,000 and 200,000 Haitians are believed to be in the United States illegally.

" Haitian immigrants already in the U.S. will not only be able to make money to support themselves, but also to send remittances to their suffering families back in Haiti," Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla.

Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, said "This sounds to me like open borders advocates exercising the Rahm Emanuel axiom: 'Never let a crisis go to waste.' Illegal immigrants from Haiti have no reason to fear deportation, but if they are deported, Haiti is in great need of relief workers and many of them could be a big help to their fellow Haitians,"

Bill Nelson - Florida

“Senator Bill Nelson D-Fl got 3 counties in Florida exempt in order to preserve their Medicare Advantage plan benefits. Those counties are Brevard, Miami Dade and Palm Beach, the three biggest Democrat counties in the state. “

The push is on to extend more visas for family members of Haitians already in the USA.

It’s 2:30 in the afternoon on Friday and Leo Noel, a 50-year-old Haitian immigrant, sits in a taxi queue at Penn Station in Newark. It’s a job he works often seven days a week to support his family here and in Haiti.

Noel, of Irvington, is a legal resident and has lived in the United States for almost 20 years. He sends money to Haiti every week to help support his adult children in Port-au-Prince.

Sending money to relatives back home is an unwritten rule for Haitians in the United States — legal residents and illegal immigrants alike. Together they send an estimated $1 billion to Haiti each year.

It’s the humanitarian thing to do; it would be cruel and senseless to deport anyone back to Haiti now. But advocates for Haitian immigrants say the United States needs to do more to help those legal residents who, like Noel, have left relatives behind and are trying to legally bring them to the United States.

He’s filed for visas for his two adult children.

The U.S. State Department should do the same for families like Noel’s. He worries how much longer his relatives will have to remain on the devastated island, especially his daughter, Jolaivia Noel, 25, who has no means of support and relies solely on the money he sends her for basic necessities such as food and shelter.

“She is very poor,” he said. “That’s why my daughter’s got to come here.”

Bill Nelson is giving them work permits so they can do the jobs that unemployed Floridians won,t do. Bill Nelson has been exposed as a progressive socialist and will be tossed out with Obama in 2012. The question is how much damage will he do in the meantime.

Reprieve for illegal immigrants
Mixed feelings for Haitians illegally in U.S.: ‘It’s like joy and sorrow at the same time’

When a Haitian woman from Takoma Park received a call from a friend telling her that Haitians who have been living in the United States illegally will be allowed to stay for the next 18 months, the woman dropped the phone.

“I screamed. I got on my knees. And I cried, ‘Lord, thank you, thank you, thank you,’ “ recalled the woman, whose middle name is Stephanie. “Nine years I have been waiting for this.”

“I said, ‘Lord, all those people had to lose their lives so that you can deliver me from my hardship?’ It’s like joy and sorrow at the same time,” she said. [snip]http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/17/AR2010011703350.html

Just why in hell don't one of these useless victims change the law so that anyone who wants in, can move into the USA?
And if you don't know the answers to that, perhaps you don't belong here either.

Tom Tancredo:

Tancredo called the decision by Obama a form of amnesty, and argued his move plays into the debate over immigration, not natural disaster.

“Americans are responding to the Haiti devastation as we always do, by millions of acts of individual charity and generosity,” Tancredo said in a statement from the conservative Rocky Mountain Foundation, of which he is chairman. “But Obama’s action in giving protected status to 200,000 illegal aliens already in the U.S. is a cynical exploitation of that horrific situation.”

The outspoken critic of immigration added that he is concerned that once the 18-month protected status period ends, Obama will extend the status “under the excuse that the country has not yet fully recovered from the natural disaster.”

Tancredo also warned against dangerous Haitian gang members entering the United States by claiming refugee status.

“It might help Haiti’s recovery to bring all of them to the U.S. as refugees, but I doubt the citizens of Florida or Texas or Illinois see that as a humanitarian duty,” he said.[snip]

“For Right Wingers like Tom Tancredo to suggest that we should ship tens of thousands of Haitians back into those hellish conditions is beyond inhumane,” Clark continued. “But that’s just the kind of hatefulness that seems to have taken hold of the far Right.” [snip]

Well we can’t just ship them back now.

Sure we can. Except that we have an illegal 0bamunist regime in Washington ruling no differently than the typical banana republic junta.

Where is your compassion? Where is your decency?

My compassion is for the LEGAL and LEGITIMATE citizens of the United States, not for ILLEGALS and ILLEGITIMATE trespassers, and there is nothing indecent about deporting each and every last one of them, the Eisenhower Administration had great success with that policy and there is no reason it won't work today.

What is indecent is a n00b like you advocating that the law of the land be discarded, ignored, and used for nothing better than toilet paper. You know, like liberals do.

Tell you what, you have all that compassion for those illegal Haitians in this country, let's send them to your house, ok?
