Axelrod: Coakley could have asked for help earlier By Eric Zimmermann - 01/19/10 01:26 PM ET

The White House would have helped out Martha Coakley's campaign earlier if she had only asked, White House senior adviser David Axelrod said today.

President Obama made a last minute campaign stop for Coakley on Sunday, but many Democrats wondered why he didn't make an earlier, stronger push.

"The White House did everything we were asked to do," Axelrod told reporters today, according go the Baltimore Sun. "I think if we had been asked earlier, we would have responded earlier."

As recently as a week before Obama's appearance, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said it was "not on our schedule" to campaign in the state the following week.

Axelrod also praised Scott Brown's "very clever campaign" and suggested there were "local issues at play."

Apparently their internals are showing a Brown win or he’d never have made that premature statement. Should she win, he will need a towel to wash the egg off his face.

Soetoro has nothing! An earlier, stronger push by the guy Massachusetts is voting AGAINST would have made things even worse for Marcia Croakley.

This is hugh! - certainly not over yet though. I sense there may be a rat playing a possum here.

Color me skeptical.

Another words, they could have sent in WIlliam Daley who would have gotten the long forgotten Boston Militia and the Union Soldiers to vote for her in this election.

No, it’s the message of the Democrat party, the party of dead babies, dead soldiers, 100% unemployment, and black slavery.

That would have put Scott ahead a lot earlier and taken the fun out of thre race.

If Brown wins, shills will say it is a victory for moderate RINO Republicans who are closer in views on issues to Obama than they are to the Tea Party crowd. Don’t buy it.

My different take on the ego angle...
IMO, the only reason Obie is coming is because Billy Jeff agreed first. If Coakley pulls it out Obie needs to be able to try and take credit. If she doesn't he has plausible deniability, "She asked too late to do any good". If he stayed away it was a definite lose, lose as Billy Jeff would have gotten credit for pulling it out and Obie the blame for a loss (for not being engaged).

0bummerCare is the reason Democrats are failing.

I hope they stay in denial until we have vast majorities on the basis of America’s rejection of their policies.

Let’s enjoy the moment and their continuing denial of reality. It only helps us.

"The White House did everything we were asked to do," Axelrod told reporters...

And the country is asking the White House to hit the kill switch on its socialization programs.

Hope we're not too late?

Hmm. You'd think if this seat was so critical to Obama's health care reform the WH would have been more on top of things. They shouldn't have needed to have been asked. They should have been _pro-active_.

Fortunately (in this case) being pro-active is a skill set the current POTUS lacks.

Yeah, don't worry about the policies. Just blame your candidate. Keep on shovelling the crap the American people don't want so bad that you lose Killer Kennedy's seat to a supposedly "tea partier".

Keep forcing midnight 10000 page bills noone's read through congress on procedural garbage.

The American people HATE YOU AND YOUR ILK, Axelrod.

Crash. And. Burn.
