WASHINGTON -- Don't expect any partying at the White House on Wednesday.

Press secretary Robert Gibbs says nothing special is being planned to take note of Barack Obama's first year as president. Obama took the oath of office on the steps of the Capitol around noon on Jan. 20, 2009.

Except that he had to go back and say the oath again in private afterwards. Maybe you don't want the public to remember how you muffed the words and then wouldn't let anyone see you transparently hide what was oathed the second time, but we do Mr. Obama. We do.

I'm operating under the assumption that oaths mean nothing to Obama (taqqiya, you know), so he isn't hiding anything there.

As for commemorative parties, there's two things going on--first is Haiti: it wouldn't look good for another opulent party; second is Massachusetts: not an opportune time to be whooping it up if it goes as predicted. Further, there's White House parties every few days anyway. One will be happening soon enough.

Obama has thrown one party every three days over the the past year in the White House. More than a hundred parties altogether But they are purely for his own amusement, and that of his pals and donors. The press is not welcome, and you won't hear about them on your TV. We're not supposed to know what he's actually doing.
