GOP's Brown wins Mass. Senate seat in epic upset

BOSTON – In an epic upset in liberal Massachusetts, Republican Scott Brown rode a wave of voter anger to defeat Democrat Martha Coakley in a U.S. Senate election Tuesday that left President Barack Obama's health care overhaul in doubt and marred the end of his first year in office.

The loss by the once-favored Coakley for the seat that the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy held for nearly half a century signaled big political problems for the president's party this fall when House, Senate and gubernatorial candidates are on the ballot nationwide.

He’s a pariot and he worked hard for his win. God bless him for entering the race against all odds and then winning it. I think he’s a good man and he’s quick on his feet. Very personable and he knows what he believes. He doesn’t have to search his memory to try to “recall” what he’s supposed to say, he says what he stands for. I admire his straighforwardness and I think he’s genuine.

I see Brown as a temp worker hired to make Obama look bad for two years. However I would not give him a promotion or hire him permanently.

Brown is dead on arrival for re-election in 2012. No way does he win with Obama at the top of the ticket.

Brown has two options: Shill for Romney and hope Slick Willard picks him as Veep or run for President himself in 2012.

Notice the Mittens are out demanding loyalty to Slick Willard.

This is not only a victory for Brown. This is a victory for populism.

Sarah Palin becomes a more likely candidate because of this victory—and GOP insiders everywhere are probably slightly uncomfortable as a result.

On the face of things, Brown might look like a fluke win, but it’s all up to him which way he decides to go. I’d lay better odds of him retaining his seat than I would with Anh Cao in New Orleans. After all, go back to 1952 and a young upstart knocked off the establishment political figure, and that was JFK vs. Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr. JFK was also more Conservative than his GOP opponent. JFK was able to help transform Republican-leaning MA into a Democrat state.

Brown might be able to do the same by using his appeal to Independents, the largest voting bloc in the state, to move the state back away from its ludicrous overrepresentation of Democrats that don’t really reflect the realities of the state, only that of the fact that the MA GOP itself cannot compete because of the incompetency that has infested it for so long under DIABLO/RINO Governors (and their willful sabotage).

But if Brown follows the Slick Willard model, just using this as a mere stepping stone to the Presidency, and intends to swiftly discard the office in 2012, this victory will have been worse than pyrrhic. I’d rather he use his newfound fame and power to resuscitate his state and make it competitive again from top to bottom, we shall see.

Brown being defeated in is 2012 no certainty.

I’d say his odds are much better than Cao’s in his 64% black district. If Cao survives 2010 it would be no contest as his seat will pick up even more rat voters when it expands after redistricting.

Oh and I think talk of putting him on the national ticket in 2012 is uh premature. Let’s see how he does.

This is so awesome. I’ve noticed lately on my facebook all of these people starting to become fans of Palin and speaking out. I intend to stay on message but be civil, but I intend to keep talking!! I’ve noticed that when I don’t just attack all democrats, my democrat friends give me a chance and hear me out, and have been agreeing with me more and more in ways I never thought they would. More and more people it seems, even democrats, are starting to realize that socialism is not the way to go and that govt cannot solve all problems, no matter how bad those problems are. Govt just makes them worse.

“Here’s my question: What do all those Freepers who were all over the place in 2006 and 2008 saying there was no reason to turn out for Republicans think? According to them there’s no real difference between Pubbies and Dems. They shouldn’t care about Brown’s win if they really believe that. Where are all those folks anyway?

We may still end up with Obamacare because there wasn’t just one more Republican in the Senate in the last year - which we would have if some close races had gone the other way. Some had 3rd party candidates that drew votes from the Republican. What do the geniuses who voted 3rd party or didn’t vote in those think now? Have they figured anything out yet?”

Awesome post. I agree with what you say. And I think many of these are Democrats/Marxists posing as conservatives on this site and everywhere to divide conservatives and to destroy the GOP , the only viable opposition to democrats/Marxists/socialism.

But even Hannity and Beck are idiots on this saying that “Republicans lost their way” , “no difference between the parties” etc.. The liberal mainstream media said that Republicans had control of Congress. But this was media lie number 1. Republicans never had the 60 out of a 100 votes in the Senate to control Congress and so to be able to cut the government that the Democrats grew in the last 100 years when the Internet was not informing us.
So Hannity and the anti-GOP “conservatives” , how how could the Republicans increase the size of government or lose their way if they never had control ( the 60 votes in the Senate)? Answer they didn't increase spending and they didn't have control of the Senate or congress.

1. Republicans never had control of the Senate/Congress as they never had 60 or more votes out of a hundred. Media lie number one "The Republicans controlled Congress".

2. Republicans didn't increase the size of government. The "increase in spending" the liberal media beat the Republicans over he head with every second from a 10000 media outlets was in fact only inflation, Military spending for wars, and Mandatory spending that democrats had built into the big government machine they built up over a hundred years. Media lie number 2 "Republicans increased spending and government size". As if the media wouldn't like increases in government spending and size. Think about it. Just what media mantra is true, Global warming ? No any fool can see it has been freezing everywhere, Swine flu? No where is that "pandemic" now. I called all this way back .

Just remember that what the media hates must be good/freedom,what the media keeps saying must be lies, what the media praises must be evil/Marxist. So to know the truth just take the opposite of what the media says. and anytime you see something on the media never believe it but know the opposite must be true. The liberal mainstream media are Marxist activists and so are pure evil. The democrat party and the mainstream media are both Marxists and so are one, part of the same cult, Marxism/socialism.

Government didn't grow during the time Republicans had a bare majority, never a super majority , never a fillibuster-proof majority. All of the “spending increases” the media beat the Republicans on the head every minute with to turn conservatives against the GOP , was in fact only inflation, Military spending for wars, and Mandatory spending that democrats had built into the big government machine they built up over a hundred years.

Proof Republicans and Bush didn't grow government:

The Second Shot Heard Round The World!!!! In my most humble and grateful fashion, I wish to simply say “THANKS” to the voters in the great state of Massschusetts who supported, campaigned for and voted for Senator Scott Brown!!! Once again, the great state of Masschusetts has stepped up and struck a much needed positive blow for freedom, indivdual liberty and against the tyranny of anti-American, socialist, communist, facist, POTUS Barack Hussein Obama and the Democrat Party!!!! This patriotic vote for the future of our children, grandchildren and our beloved country is akin to the actions of our great revolutionary field generals, Daniel Morgan and Nathaniel Green. Morgan did the British in at Cow Pens and Green lost his battle, but mauled the British so badly that they never recovered and surrended to Washington in Virginia shortly thereafter. The great master in heaven continues to watch over America and her children. God always bring forth a savior for the American nation and the living dream of freedom and opportunity when the clouds look darkest, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, FDR, Harry Truman and.......I could go on and on. You, the very people of Massachusetts who walk the streets, run the businesses, educate your young and all those “mundane” things that make America work for us all, you are truly the latest to join the God sent!!!! Yes, in your infinite wisdom, you have again declared “Government of the people, by the people and for the people” America thanks you, I thank, my family thanks you and....always will!!!

A Republican just got elected to the U.S. Senate in MA, and we’ve got people wringing their hands about whether he’ll get reelected in 2012 (heck, the hand-wringing about 2012 began several days before the election. Guys, we won a huge victory, and it’s time to (i) celebrate and (ii) plan for greater successes in November and beyond. We don’t know exactly how Brown will vote (although all the evidence points to him being the most conservative Senator from MA in over 64 years, and clearly to the right of the Maine Sisters and RINO Senate candidates like Castle and Kirk), nor do we know what his approval ratings will look like in 2012 or what Obama’s effect will be atop the ballot in MA that year. Heck, we don’t even know if the governor of MA will be a Republican, Democrat or independent (it would not surprise me if Deval Patrick dropped out and a less incompetent Democrat ran).

Two and one-half years ago you would have never predicted the recent huge GOP victories in NJ, VA and MA, and we can’t pretend we know what will happen 2 and one-half years from now in a state that may well be trending our way a bit. MA does not need to become a GOP state to reelect Brown; if it returns to voting 45%+ for Republican presidential candidates as it did in the ‘80s, Brown would probably be favored for reelection.

Forget about premature, it’s a non-starter. Conservative voters can countenance a Senator from MA that is not pro-life, but there’s far less wiggle room for presidential tickets.

BTW, noticed another race last night for a special election in Birmingham, Alabama for Mayor, and the choice of the convicted ex-Mayor Larry Langford, William Bell, won over an outsider challenger. Bell served as interim Mayor back when Richard Arrington stepped down mid-term. Not a good outcome for reformers.

And, also, in my city of Nashville, and despite massive popular opposition, our Metro Council rammed through a nearly-$1 billion project for a hideous Convention Center (and hotel) championed by the Mayor. The proponents argued it was a surefire (!) moneymaker and won’t cost the taxpayers, but some of us have our doubts that we won’t be on the hook for it to some degree. They just don’t want to listen to us.

To their credit, some of the most avid 3rd party/2nd party (they claim there is only one current party) activists, like Man50D were on the phone banks calling into MA for Brown. But, that highlights your question all the more! Why do that, unless they are cognizant of the difference between the imperfect GOP and the dastardly RAT party?

Come ON people! And this about 3rd parties that no advocate of them has ever answered adequately:

"In the history of the United States, not a single third party has come close to winning the presidency, only 7 3rd parties have even won a single state’s electoral votes and only 5 third parties have won even 10% of the vote."

I guess we just need to keep on showing them what the word CHANGE really means :)

I am over the moon with this victory. I don’t care what some msm spin doctor will attemtp to turn this into avoiding the large elephant that just trampled right into the middle of the room. He sat down on top of them all and took a gymormous dump!!

Never in my life could I have ever predicted this victory after Mr. K departed this world.

This is sweet and I am going to savor it until the next election as we continue to clean up the mess we allowed in 08.

I want someone to measure that vile arrogant upward tilted chin of Zero this morning and see if he has lowered it just one inch in humiliation.
