I cheered out loud when he said this.

Thank You, LORD, for this great victory tonight!

I am so thrilled with Brown's victory.

Somehow, though, I can't get Mary Joe's death out of my mind. The parents of many of today's Brown voters gave Teddy a pass 30 years ago. That still bothers me.

I hope he drives that truck right up to the White House and honks.

Ok. You’re young as you state, and you’re passionate. I get that.

I hadn’t read all your posts, only the one to which I responded - but I did read other replies to your #10, and frankly I don’t see the hostility.

Like I said, you’re passionate - but from where I stand, you’re way ahead of the game. As the greatest Man of the 20th century said, “anyone at age 20 who is not a liberal has no heart; at age 40 who is not a conservative has no brain” (Winston Churchill).

You’ve got both, and are about 15-20 years ahead of the curve towards enlightenment.

Sorry, I won’t let my hatred for Obama big government principles sell out my pro-life principles. I have a reason to reflect and pray, not a reason to “party.”

Please tell me how it matters what any member of the senate thinks about abortion, one way or the other? What do you expect... some law to come through on the topic?

They were snickering when Brown was speaking. When he speaks, he’s another blowhard politician..but when Obama speaks, he’s an orator for the ages!

Yes, I was impressed by Scott Brown’s graciousness while still displaying, what I saw to be, a very STRONG character rather than the wishy squishy Rhino-ness that so many have ....

I look forward very much to his being in the US Senate.

We need to PRAY for him, for his safety, and for his protection from all the forces that will seek to tear him apart once he gets to DC.

Thanks. And thank you and all of you for your time tonight and reflection. We still have much work to do, but YES! THIS IS A START!

God bless America - the last and best bullwark to freedom the world has ever known.

He stole that line from JFK.

Thanks for the ping to a good speech. I especially like the closing, and this statement: “I believe that our Constitution and laws exist to protect this nation - they do not grant rights and privileges to enemies in wartime. In dealing with terrorists, our tax dollars should pay for weapons to stop them, not lawyers to defend them.”

Terrific speech.

I will say, I thought Coakley’s concession was a nice concession speech.

The Senate has to approve Supreme Court judges. They tend to use the abortion issue as a litmus test, and a majority in favor of one side or the other, in effect, decides Roe v. Wade, over and over again.

It's been a long, grim slog to this point, and it sure as hell ain't over. But as the tide turns, a spot of grateful, well-earned jubilation is just the thing to refresh our spirits and strengthen our resolve.

As we gear up to deal with what comes next, another remark by that portly fellow with the brandy and cigars comes to mind: "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

Let's roll.

And I hope they’re paying close attention, because tonight the independent voice of Massachusetts has spoken.

this was perhaps the one line that stuck with me most. I suspect some sort of republican triumphalism wouldn't have played very well, and would have missed the mark to boot. It's been quite some time since I held much hope for this nation, but I was encouraged by the tone Brown set in his speech.

Please. He could be a great leader. But right now he has less experience than BO had when he ran. Let’s see how he performs before nominating him for anything else.

I'm with you about not running him for anything else before he's developed some track record in DC, but to correct the experience part of your post...NO, he's vastly more experienced than Obama when he ran for president. He has something like 20 years experience in the National Guard with, I believe, the rank of Lt Col. One must actually run and lead something to achieve that rank, even in the National Guard. Obama hadn't so much as run a lemonade stand prior to being elected to the IL senate, and he won that because his opponent's name was removed from the ballot if memory serves.

Yes, I didn’t make myself clear. About the experience, what I was talking about is that he has just been elected to the Senate, just stepped onto the national stage, and we need to see how he votes and handles himself before running the poor guy for President. Hear you about the National Guard.

Healthcare, yes......but Sen-elect Scott Brown also tapped into America's disgust with this admin's coddling of terrorists.

EXCERT FROM BROWN"S VICTORY SPEECH "And let me say this, with respect to those who wish to harm us, I believe that our Constitution and laws exist to protect this nation - they do not grant rights and privileges to enemies in wartime. In dealing with terrorists, our tax dollars should pay for weapons to stop them, not lawyers to defend them."

Nice how Brown slapped down an arrogant SOB posing as a president who appointed Eric Holder---the dumbest USAG America has ever seen.

HEY, SCOTT GET A LOAD OF THIS VERY DISTURBING GOVERNMENT MINDSET INSIDE OUR WHITE HOUSE Obama-Incompetano pulled out all the stops to go after Americans few months back, but are coddling bombers and terrorists. No more proof is needed than Obama-Incompetano's profiling Americans as “rightwing extremists.”

On April 7, 2009, the admin's hatred of Americans sprang full force as DHS Incompetano's Office of Intelligence and Analysis sent out a nationwide alert to US L/E to act against "evil" conservatives. DHS identified “rightwing extremists” as a "danger" and defined “rightwing extremists” in a footnote, as follows.

EXCERPT--- DHS' Office of Intelligence and Analysis nationwide alert to US L/E. Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.

DHS later said that the report was not an attempt to squash First Amendment Rights for conservatives----only "hate groups"---- but, there was NO attempt to exempt anyone from these broad generalizations. Obama/Incompetano's report paints EVERY ASPECT OF AMERICAN CONSERVATISM as "suspect."

This is indicative of a very disturbing government mindset. Obama-Incompetano's documented hatred of Americans, and their ordering L/E to surveil and supress Americans......contrasts sharply with their kid glove handling of terrorists bent on violence and destruction.

================================================

Now the America-hating stupids in the White House are getting Senate Homeland Security Committee Chair Sen. Joe Lieberman to give Janet "The System Worked" Incompetano a pass. In his hearings, Lieberman is being exhorted to grill her BUT won’t call for Napolitano to resign; Lieb could even reiterate his support for her remaining at the DHS post, Senate aides say.”

Oh, I myself can't wait til the voters of Conn find out that Lieberman co-sponsored the Dodd Amendment to cut $4.5 million from airport screening operations and explosives detection systems....and instead, supported grants to firefighters (Chris Dodd's financial backers).

BACKSTORY In July 2009, Dodd proposed an amendment reducing aviation security appropriations by $4.5M in favor of firefighter grants (a move that enriched one of Dodd's financial backers). The federal money Dodd eliminated was specifically intended "for screening operations and for explosives detection systems."

AT THE TIME I POSTED THAT ITEM DEC 2009, MY ADVICE TO DODD WAS: "Dodd should pack his bags and leave now, before he's tarred and feathered and run out of DC on a rail." Fast forward to January 2010: Dodd announces he's quitting the Senate.....Conn voters should get the tar and feathers ready for Lieberman.

FOR YOUR REFERENCE Dodd, Lieberman Amendment Cuts $4.5M for "Aviation Security" from DHS Appropriations Act
dodd.senate | July 10, 2009 / Posted by maggief

Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT), Joe Lieberman (ID-CT), and Thomas Carper (D-DE) authored an amendment to the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act that will provide $10 million more in funding for grants to local fire departments for equipment and training. The amendment, which passed unanimously last night, will ensure $390 million in funding is provided for the Assistance to Firefighters (FIRE) grant program next year.
