Scott Brown's Ascendancy As A 'Massachusetts Man Of The People'
The Washington Post ^ | 1/20/10 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 01/20/2010 5:47:48 AM PST by steve-b

There will be much harrumphing and punditry in the next few days about the meaning of Scott Brown's victory and his phenomenal campaign for Ted Kennedy's U.S. Senate seat....

As important as the Massachusetts special election was to the health-care debate, it also represents a come-to-Jesus moment for the GOP. What kind of party will it be?

On the surface, Brown's success, especially among independents, suggests that the GOP tent is expanding to make room even for moderate, pro-choice candidates like Brown. Have fiscal conservatives displaced social conservatives as the base?...

People are starting to stretch this way too much.

Brown didn’t win because of Brown. Brown won because Mass doesn’t want to pay twice for RomneyCare and ObamaCare. I am glad the spawn of satan lost the election, of course.

The chance that 22% of Dems will vote for another Republican is probably low.

Without reading any further, I'm positive Katleen Parker (and Peggy Noonan) is not someone we need to look to for guidance or advice.

They really Just Don’t Get It. Amazing. Even after this, they’re still pimping the “Big Tent” garbage.

Idiots.

This election was a referendum on Obama and his take-over and attempted take-over of the economy. Period.

My mom’s first comment was “He sure is good looking. Hope there’s no bimbo in his back pocket waiting to make an appearance.” I thought “Uh oh.”

For the first time in almost sixty years, Massachusetts has a Senator who isn’t the media creation of a lying, cheating, ambitious, lecherous shanty Irishman’s millions. (I’m talking about Joe, Sr.)

I turned on the local commies to hear what they were saying.

Crickets.

I found that telling.

Journalists are so full of themselves.

Brown’s success was due to Obama’s weakness and nothing more. Brown is an energetic politician whose sole platform was opposition to Obama. A dog catcher could have run on the same platform and won.

The GOP may need to let abortionists from Massachusetts into the tent, but not elsewhere.

I’m amazed that she was able to actually write an entire column without a gratuitous slap at Sarah Palin (other than a passing reference to the “Palin-Huckabee Republicans).

There are a lot of possible reasons for the event. My take is that it’s not about party. I don’t think the GOP won, I don’t think the Democrats lost, although this is a blow to healthcare.

I think the MA voters are sick of politicians doing as they please, and not listening to the voters. For the moment, the voters are heard.

Brown’s abortion stance is disappointing to say the least, but not nearly as disgusting as Martha “I love baby-killing” Coakley.

His platform was opposition to the Deomocrats, not just Obama. He campaigned on lowering taxes, cutting spending, a strong military and anti-Obama healthcare reform. If that isn’t conservative enough for some here on FR then I suggest they move over to a fringe third party and enjoy themselves in their negativity. It’s stunning how little some here grasp the realities of party politics. It’s also amazing how dismissive some are of his election. No, a dog-catcher could not have won...

“People are starting to stretch this way too much.”

As a NJ voter and a MA second home owner, yesterday was a double blessing. Our new Republican governor was sworn in and our new MA senator was elected.

No stretch, just repudiation of liberal policies. The independents and the conservatives have spoken. The message is unmistakable.

What Keith Obermann says about the newly Elected U.S. Senator Scott Brown from Massachusetts is not even close to being viewer worthy. Check it out on then URL below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLjAahyKfp0

Then again, the size of his audience is 'modest', to be polite even if Obermann goes out of the way not to be!

Like the tree falling in the woods, if nobody heard it did it make a sound?
