Nelson: Like Mass. voters, I'm fed up with Washington

By Jordan Fabian - 01/20/10 04:13 PM ET

Centrist Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) said Wednesday that he -- like voters in Massachusetts who elected Republican Scott Brown -- is frustrated with Washington.

Nelson responded to Brown's Tuesday victory over Democrat Martha Coakley as Democratic leaders were scrambling to develop an alternative plan to pass healthcare legislation after Brown is seated as the 41st senator, breaking the Democratic super-majority.

"Clearly, the vote showed that people are frustrated with Washington...and I am too," Nelson said in a statement. "That frustration will likely register across the board for all incumbents. The overriding message from yesterday is that people are upset because Washington is dysfunctional and not working together for them."

Fed up with DC? That’s good, since he won’t be staying there much longer.

“Clearly, the vote showed that people are frustrated with Washington...and I am too,” Nelson said in a statement.

“I am especially angry at the senator who demanded special treatment for his own state on Medicaid payments,” he continued. “Why should the other 49 states have to pick up the tab for one state, just to buy the vote of that state’s senator?”

“People are fed up with the secret back-room deal-cutting on an issue like national health care, which should be decided on grounds of policy,” he went on to say.

They’re all having a sudden revelation. The problem is they are still trying to frame the debate. They simply can’t help themselves. Its not that Washington is failing to get things done but that they’re chasing the wrong things to get done.

Hey Ben, you are a BIG part of the reason that people are frustrated with Washington. I think the voters are going to give you the same terse message that Dick Cheney gave to Pat Leahy (credit Ann Coulter for that line).

I agree since he betrayed most of his constituents. Go away you phony and take Webb, Bayh, Landrieu, and Specter with you. Also take Tim Johnson of SD and Blanche Lincoln with you too.

Please if you live in a state with any of these nitwits get rid of them.

Mr. Nelson, we are fed up with you. We watched you get on your soap box about the sanctity of life and abortions and the poor children and your ethical dilemma. Then we watched you bend over and take the wood from Nancy. You make us sick; just shut the hell up and go away.

You must understand, for most of these pols, especially Dems, their political office is their chosen way to provide a living for their families. The ultimate goal for them, like any working person, is to keep their jobs and they will do or say whatever it they think it takes to not get “fired”.
