The Obamas Write a $15,000 Check for Haiti Recovery (But Spent $40,000 on Christmas Vacation)

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama donated $15,000 today to the Haiti relief efforts, the White House confirms.

The donation came from their personal bank account, a check written to the Clinton-Bush Haiti fund.

“The President and First Lady have been inspired by the way that millions of Americans have responded with tremendous generosity to the Haiti crisis – even in these tough economic times,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest says, “So, today, they sent their own check for $15,000 to the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund to support the ongoing relief efforts in that country.”

The Clinton-Bush Haiti fund was launched on Friday – in a joint effort by former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, prompted by the president asking the two to help get Americans involved in relief efforts. As of today the fund has received more than 126,000 contributions for relief and recovery efforts.

And one or more years of Bidens’ tax returns showed about $200 in donations.

These people are unreal

$15,000? Paltry in light of all the money he’s made on his faux autobiographies and the Nobel Prize, not to mention under-the-table payoffs by the unions. He’s eager to spend trillions of our money, but just $15,000 for Haiti relief? Guess he doesn’t like black people.

They did this TODAY?

That’s astounding they waited so long, and gave so little given the First Lady’ wardrobe and restaurant expenditures.

I would bet the Cheney’s and Bush’s have given a lot more, a lot sooner- unpublicized

What the heck? That money comes from the taxpayers anyway.

*******

Hey, please take it easy on President Obama concerning his $15,000 donation to the Haiti terrible catastrophe.

Remember, President Obama really doesn't have much money to donate to charity for this reason:

As you probably know, President Obama has to save his pennies in order to pay his lawyers who are defending him against those "birthers" who are fighting in court to have President Obama release his 1961 Hawaii long form birth certificate.

At last count, Obama or the Democratic Party has paid over $1 million dollars, and counting, to lawyers to keep the public from looking at Obama's Hawaii long form birth certificate, a birth certificate that would cost Obama about $10 to get a copy from Hawaii.

So please, be nice to Obama and be thankful that Obama was able to come up with $15,000 of his hard-earned money to donate to the Haiti fund, $15,000 that Obama could have used to pay off $1 million fees to his lawyers who are fighting the "birthers" in court case after court case.

Well, so what? I mean, I gave $50 for relief in Haiti, but just spent over $1,000 for a week’s vacation. Does that make me a bad person or something? Seems like a fairly generous donation to me.

No, it doesn't. However I have a problem with liberals whining about 'greed' and going on a tirade about how much others should pay for their cause.

I've never met a generous liberal, and certainly never met one as generous with their money as they are with someone else's.

Scott Brown: Do you think that new Senator Scott Brown would say "no" if we asked him to show us his Massachusetts long form birth certificate? I don't think so.

Sorry, I'm still fuming about the $500 I gave to the Katrina mess. I'm also very confident that Obama will commit 10’s of billions of dollars in aid over the next several months. I'll give my donations to the IRS.

$15,000? What a putz. I’d bet that I have “given” a lot more than that in foreign aid to haiti over the years. Besides, 15 grand is less than he spends on Wednesday party night. Wagu beef is about $1,000 per ounce. Watch for his media to do stories on where exactly his contribution went.
