..they tried the "THUD" for a while in "64" for 6 months, but it was too heavy and a pilot was killed and went back to the 100...they didn't change again till 69 and went with the F-4....(my personal choice *smiles* since I had a love/hate relationship with it

I never was fond of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II. To me, it smacks of Pentagon interference in wanting to have an everything for every branch of fighter platform, resulting in many versions bordering on the point of absurdity. It is satirized in this cartoon here:



And it was ugly...
