Good thing I keep multiple copies of this stuff and backup everything every few days! Lewis exclaimed.Good man!
And from one creative artist to another, keep a spare copy of the manuscript on a cruzer thumb drive too.
And hide that thumb drive!

Thumb drives, external drives, and encrypted off-site storage for what matters. Good to see this person had sense to do some kind of backup.

Have you ever seen colder eyes on a man? (Note: I specifically wrote “man” so that the subject of Hilary Clinton does not arise.)

I do sometimes. Sometimes I get on a hot streak of side work recovering data from people’s systems who never think about rolling any kind of backup. I can do a lot with a Knoppix disc and flash storage. The people for whom I can recover data for are always appreciate and paying. Most learn but a few never do about backing up important things.

Most learn but a few never do about backing up important things.I used to work for a software company. They discovered a bug that caused severe data corruption. The published solution? "Just restore your most recent backup."
They knew full well, of course, that most of their users didn't make backups and would be hosed.

I worked in a computer support department at a university once. My MS worshipping psycho boss-ette almost blew a fuse when I mentioned I could use a knoppix disc to possibly recover data when a windoze box flaked once. She insisted on endless attempts at safe mode and XP’s repair console to get it running and move things to a share. Needless to say I am glad to be out of that hellhole.

So, you can use a Linux disk to recover data on a Windows machine?
