Congratulations! I was holding my breath when Garrett Hartley went to kick the field goal but knew he would make the kick. He always did when he was kicking for our Oklahoma Sooners.
Rooting for the Saints in the Super Bowl!

"
Vikings had every chance to win the game and they choked...as usual." Yes, but during regulation play, it was clear that the officials were dedicated to giving the codger a shot at another Super Bowl. The roughing calls on the Saints were out of line all the way; they were over-protecting Favre, and if he needs that kind of protection he should be a spectator, not a player.
In overtime it appeared that they realized that their credibility was shot, and they began to play it straight.

You have a lot of people crying in their beer tonight and trying to take it out on you. LOL.
Boy Brett choked, defense choked, Allen chose heads, Hartley made a FG to end the game.

LOL! Your age is either less than 30, or your IQ is.
Not only do I get to look you up in a couple of weeks, but for the next ten years!

ESPN Mag had some proposed rule changes in various sports. They had two potential OT rule changes, to replace both the pro and college rules. As we know, in the pro, you might never get a chance to go on offense. In college, the game doesn't really play like a regular game in OT. So here were their proposals...
One was a "divide the last piece of cake with your brother rule". Like dividing the last piece of cake with your brother, you make the cut, he gets to choose the piece. In football, the team winning the flip has to pick a yard line. Then the other team can choose whether to go on offense or defense. So the picking team, will want to pick a yard line where they are indifferent to going on offense or defense. Then, next team to score wins.
The other is an auction. The teams bid, and whoever is willing to go on offense with the worst field position, will get the ball to start the OT period. I like both of them better than either the pro or college rules.
In the Vikes/Saints, with the Saints winning the toss, they might say "offensive 18 yard line". Then the Vikes could decide whether they wanted the ball at the 18, or to go on D with the Saints taking over at the 18.
In the bidding, not really sure whether ESPN proposed a one shot bid, or a true back and forth auction. I assume a one shot bid. So the Vikes coach might tell the ref (privately) "offensive 23", and the Saints coach might tell the ref "offensive 19". In that case, the Saints gave the "worst" bid, and would get the ball on the 19.

I actually think I was having panic attacks during OT. The kid came through, and sliced himself a memory that less than 1 in million will ever enjoy.
This win is for Dan Abramowicz, Archie Manning, Tom Dempsey, and all my other child Saint heros. The Stigma of the Bags is finally over
I am not going to predict the SB, and my Saints may lose. But this is a moment that I thought I would never see in my lifetime.

I’d like to see college overtime. Sudden-death needs to go. IIRC, we lost to Atlanta in 1998 without getting the ball in overtime either. Both teams need to have the ball in OT.
To: big'ol_freeper
I’m like that with the Cowboy fans. LOL.
They hated me last week when I was calling Romo a big choke.
I still think he will not be wearing the star next year.

There were a bunch of sissies on here crying that they were hitting Brent too hard and penalties weren't called...such complete and utter BS. If anything the refs were bending over backwards because the league wanted Farve in the Super Bowl.
