White House Toughens Tone
WSJ ^ | 01/24/10 | Jonathan Weisman

Coming off one of the most difficult weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has beefed up his political staff and is expected to deliver an uncompromising State of the Union address. Aides said Sunday that the White House wasn't making any abrupt policy shifts, even as the message was retooled to focus more sharply on job creation.

If anything, an unfinished agenda from 2009 will grow larger as, in addition to tackling health care and unemployment, the president presses for a bipartisan commission to tackle the budget deficit against resistance from Republicans. ...

The re-emergence of David Plouffe took some Democratic officials by surprise, though officials said he won't have a title and won't be working from the White House. Mr. Axelrod, in emails to The Wall Street Journal, dismissed as "overblown" the speculation that an enhanced role for Mr. Plouffe is a prelude to a shake-up of the political staff or a change of course by the White House. ...

The message Mr. Plouffe is bringing was a collaborative effort by him, White House officials and the leadership of the Democratic National Committee. That message is one of no retreat in the face of polling that shows opposition to the president's push to overhaul health care and discontent with his economic efforts.

Writing in Sunday's Washington Post, Mr. Plouffe said Democrats need to quickly pass a broad health overhaul, get serious about job creation even as they tout the impact of last year's stimulus package, turn up the heat on Republicans over the deficits incurred in the Bush years, and stop grousing about the political climate.

Of course it won't happen, however, I wish I see Zewoe toughen his tone about shrinking the size of goobermint and also eliminate the wasteful spending by over 50,000 of the 150,000 federal spending programs.

He and his ilk are dead set on destroying America.

The "uncompromising" term is a hoot, and also shows how bad a case of NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) Obie has.

Definition of Narcissistic Personality Disorder [italics theirs; I don't have the energy to go through and reformat all that text]:

An all-pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behaviour), need for admiration or adulation and lack of empathy, usually beginning by early adulthood and present in various contexts. Five (or more) of the following criteria must be met:

It's the State of the Union. It's ABOUT the state of the Union, not about political compromise. Obie Won will make it all about Themselves, which "isn't a bad gig" according to Obie, at least until all those ignorant right wingnuts smeared Their grandiose healthcare bill and Bush stole Kennedy's seat for Scott Brown in MA.

Obie has put us ungrateful, ignorant peasants on notice that we are wrong and They are right. He will give us a Stern Talking To and teach us the error of our ways.

America will laugh in scorn. Unfortunately, all the world will laugh with us.

Obama can't even talk to CHILDREN without the telepromters! And they called Bush STUPID!

He looks ridiculous not to mentioned that he is obviously unqualified. What a freaking joke the voters were sold. I'm not laughing though.

So the media crucified Bush for staying the course on the war on terrorism but OKs Obama war on the American people and his push for the Liberals taking control of 1/6 of the American economy in the name of healthcare.

Call me when these clowns figure out that the government does not “create jobs” They can occupy people with busywork, but that is a crappy foundation for an economy.

Anyone who supports Obama is automatically disqualified to say anything at all about the deficit.

In saner times there would be a lot of people hanging for treason. We've been charitable to people who don't deserve it, and accepted too much in the name of tolerance. Our good intentions have been exploited and turned against us.

If we don't find the right leaders, right away, the founding principles of this nation will be history.

The Obama administration is frustrated. They can be counted on to strike back somehow. I might be surprised but I don't count on any of our "leaders" to resist effectively.

It's time to push even harder from the grassroots.

This forum provides the best source of information on the planet. If something happens a Freeper somewhere is likely to spot it. Then it's up to the rest of us to spread the word. The public at large is ignorant, they only know what the MSM tells them.

I know people who know what is going on who sit on what they know. They are afraid to upset anyone, or risk inciting an arguement. The "progressives" don't have this problem and we've got to get rid of it.

White House toughens tone?? What is that suppose to mean? Do I care? NO.......I say bring it on. We've been on pins and needles regarding the 'spark' that's going to start this fire. Bring it on WH....we don't know who the hell you think you are....but I can assure you it's not the same person we think you are. Do you really believe we're going to sit silently? Puhleaseeee.

"Instead of fearing what may happen, let's prove that we have more than just the brains to govern—that we have the guts to govern. Let's fight like hell," Mr. Plouffe wrote

Ah, the Plouffe puff is going to serve as Obama's motivation speaking tsar.

Yeah, I think the worst thing the Republicans could do for 2010 is to drag out the same old candidates they’ve run in the past and expect the American people to vote for them because they are Republicans. I’ve heard some of the old guards are saying the Republicans need to become more Progressive to win. That is what, I believe, cost McCain the election. I think what the American people want are candidates that will work for the good of the Republic first, their state next, and the party last.
