In yet another sign that Republicans strategery is paying off, a new poll shows Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., lagging GOP Rep. Mike Pence, 44%-47%, in a hypothetical 2010 matchup.
Pence, an anti-earmarks champion, is mulling a bid but hasnt signaled what hell actually do.
Indiana, though it voted for Barack Obama in 2008, seems to be returning to its GOP roots. But until recently, Bayh was viewed as safe hes a centrist Democrat and has been a fixture in Indiana politics for decades.
But the Democrats sharp left turn over the past year has taken its toll, and Bayh knows it.

Bayh getting ousted would truly be a gift from above!
I pray he’ll get defeated
What strategery is that? So far the Republicans haven't found a way to keep the Democrats from shooting themselves repeatedly. Not for lack of trying, however.
Bayh doesn’t seem to be a flaming liberal socialist, but wow, I would LOVE to see Pence as IN’s junior Senator!
Republican strategy?
Ahhheeeemmmm, AAAhhhhheeeeemmmmmmm! Hello, McFly!
Geez, honestly! Will someone please tell me what magical strategy they used? Wet noodles, pink poodles, WHAT?
I don't want "Strategery" designed to win elections and then give us more of the same. I want morals and convictions and an unwavering belief in all elements of the Constitution. This is not an indictment of Pence, who seems to be a good egg, but rather a reminder that we are truly fed up with "Politics As Usual". I'd rather lose with an adherence to our convictions than win with another bunch of RINO Democrat-Lites!
Good, I hope they can get rid of him once and for all - I’m tired of hearing Democrats get away with describing themselves as “centrists” when they vote for socialist trash like Obamacare.
This is HUGE or in FR speak hugh and series. I went through asurvey on a web site of 5 or 6 pollsters/analysts on all the Senate races. Cook, Larry Sabato and a few others handicapping all senate seats.
ALL of them agreed Bayh was the safest seat. Safer than Boxer, Murray, Gillibrand, etc. I personally think Blumenthal in CT maybe the safest but they all said Bayh was the safest.
If Bayh is at risk then the Dems are in deep ****. This should be our and the RNC mission for this guy and McCain to lose plus Charlie Crist.
I always thought Bayh was a straight shooter and moderate. But no more. He drank the 0bama kool aid and objected to nothing. He was happy to go along
A big fat phony who only talks moderate on TV and comes off as rational and fair on TV. His actions and votes tell another story
No kidding. Look at this guys voting record and he is no centrist. Of course I dont credit Hoosiers with being rocket scientists either.
Well conservative Sarah is backing McCain so even “conservatives” apparently don’t get it.
McCain-Feingold gave us the Dem Congress, Obama and made Soros and other liberals a LOT more powerful. McCain-Feingold caused great damage. In addition, MCCain supports illegal aliens and amnesty which is bankrupting this country.
No real conservative would back McCain against another republican.
Yes, in many respects like his father.
Pence would be a big improvement over Bayh, who is another “red state phony” like Daschle, Dorgan, et al.
Pence was pro-amnesty, but, still. Big improvement.
Sen. Evan Bayh.....
He comes off good on TV
But with Obama as president and Harry Reid as his Senate leader he has been showing his true colors and went along with the program 100%
Okay, if Bayh loses in Indiana, that will put us up to 49 Senate seats. We would need to pick up two more from the following remaining opportunities: California, Washington, Wisconsin or New York. Not likely, but amazing that it is even conceivable. Thank you, Barack Obama, for uniting our country!

Yeah brother, you preach it and I'll turn the pages.
As a career Navy man it was my experience that the Academy grads were the very best or the very worst officers. McCain was the latter.
