Mumbles Menino has learned a new word, and it’s quite impressive. I bet he spent the whole weekend working on getting it right. Tsunami. T-S-U-N-A-M-I. As in Tsunami Scott Brown.
“There’s a tsunami, that’s what it was,” Mumbles was saying yesterday at the Parkman House after the new senator-elect made a call on him. “It just got rollin’ and it’s very difficult to stop. And ya know he had the best TV ads, he just had the momentum.”
Not bad, Mumbles. A big word - a foreign word - and then some standard boilerplate analysis. But then, he had almost a week to prepare. Personally, I prefer his interview on election night on MSNBC, when he appeared with Comrade Chris Matthews. That soundbite yesterday was Mumbles Lite. I prefer 200-proof Mumbles, straight up, and that’s what he was serving up election night at F.J. Doyle’s.
What happened, Your Honor? (All dialogue guaranteed verbatim.)
“I I think this whole campaign’s about, like, uh, Sam said, it’s about the rider - uh, wave of anti-anger.”
Nothing about a tsunami there. Just a rider - uh, wave of anti-anger.
“I think this campaign has been all about Obama agenda to, uh, stop the agenda in Washington and, uh, move the country backward.”
Yeah, back to those grim days of, say, January 2009, when the unemployment rate was 6 percent, instead of 10 percent.
Another problem, Mumbles continued, was the health-care bill, which has since been consigned to the Beltway equivalent of the Committee on Bills in Third Reading. “Uh, it’s the Congress’ fault. They should-na elected - they should have, um, informed the, uh, public better on the issue and, uh, been better relations uh issue on this but they didn’t do it but -”
Can we quote you on that, Your Honor?
“They been a lotta false information ’bout, about this health-care plan. You won’t have a choice you know to go da - they’ll tell ya what doctor -”
Why, it’s practically the Soviet Union - not having a choice to go da?
“Well they think they’re not gonna have a choice in who’ll give who the doctors they’ll go to. That’s the real issue and it’s gonna cost ’em more money in the end, and, uh, I think that’s what the issue is that they’re not certain what’s gonna happen.”
Well, we know what’s happening to you, Mumbles. You’re getting four more years. You were the last surfer off the beach just before the tsunami, or should I say the rider - uh, wave of anti-anger. :

Tom Menino is a functional retard. He is the epitomy of the Democrat party. He should run for President.
Question...I caught Hardball the day after the election. Matthews, for all his faults, knows Mass pols, and politics, very well. He said something which I thought was very interesting, but hasn’t been picked up in the MSM. He said that Menino’s machine in Boston had a strong enough GOTV operation that it could easily have made up the 100k votes the Brown won by. IOW, he suggested that Menino basically sat on his hands and that’s what cost Coakley the election....comments?
Scott Brown campaigned in the North end of Boston; he seemed to be well received by everyone. I am not sure that would have happened if Menino and the Boston political machine was supporting Cloakley. I am not sure he could have cranked out 100,000 votes-but the election would have been very close. Close enough that Acorn could have stolen it.
My hindsight is 20/20, but here goes:
Boston had 43% turnout, with Coakley beating Brown by 59,000 votes. If the machine had turned out 70% (doubtful), that’s still not enough votes to overcome Brown’s lead.
Also, Menino himself is riding high after winning re-election 2 months ago. Why gamble his political capital on such a risky bet? He played it cool and didn’t lose anything.
The Massachusetts congressional delegation is still 11/12ths Democrat. They have a ckokehold on this state

Someone posted before the election that there were backroom deals going on. To make a long story short, the support for Coakley by the usual suspects wasn’t there. I’ll go back and see if I can find it.
Also, Scott Brown was on Howie Carr yesterday I think.
Scott endorsed Menino for re-election. My take on this-Boston politicans don’t like left-wing elite snobs.
The Kennedy’s are not considered left-wing elite snobs by many working-class Democrats.
Interesting..did Menino have a serious GOP opponent?
Boston had about a 43% turnout or around 154,000 votes total in the Senate race.
Compare this with 236,000 votes for the last presidental race.....which was very high and maybe even some kind of record.
So even if Mumbles had gotten all these folks out they would have only given Marsha another 50-55,000 votes given the 68% that Boston gave her. We can get into hair spliting over whether higher turnout in black precincts might have pushed the percentage higher, but even if all those votes had gone to Coakley it would only have closed the gap by around 80,000.
Menino didn't put much effort in it because Marsha didn't ask him for help until late in the campaign and unlike team there is a big I in Menino.
