Howard Zinn, the Boston University historian and political activist who was an early opponent of US involvement in Vietnam and a leading faculty critic of BU president John Silber, died of a heart attack today in Santa Monica, Calif, where he was traveling, his family said. He was 87.
"His writings have changed the consciousness of a generation, and helped open new paths to understanding and its crucial meaning for our lives," Noam Chomsky, the left-wing activist and MIT professor, once wrote of Dr. Zinn. "When action has been called for, one could always be confident that he would be on the front lines, an example and trustworthy guide."

Noam Chomsky...meh
He was a propaganda writer
Glad this man cannot cause any more damage.
The mere utterance of Noam Chomsky killed it for me....
I felt worse about Mathias dropping out of the game the other day, and to tell you the truth, that didn't bother me a bit.
Not much to say here, other than he was an apologist for pinko dictators and other communists. No loss to the Republic as far as Im concerned.
The nice thing about the American Historical Association membership list is that it makes a great death list. When the balloon goes up, we can round them up and shoot them all.
No chance of a friendly kill.
It’s always a good day when another old Lefty bites the dust.
Howard Zinn didn’t “challenge the status quo”. He was a Marxist sympathizer determined to poison young minds with lies about American history and its people. Its too bad he lived too damned long; now the devil can’t do any more damage and he can commune with his master. Good riddance to this bum!
Wonder what happened to the Matt Damom - Zinn thing on History Channel? It was on once and disappeared.
Anybody know?
Good riddance.
Any death is tragic for those close to him — if he had anyone. But, I have a hard time mourning personally.
May God have mercy on his soul.

Thank goodness. I wonder if we will ever replace his revisionist textbooks with something a little more honest...?
One should only have good things to say about the dead ... Howard Zinn is dead. Good.
Burn in Hell.
Yeh, I’ll really miss him.

Unfortunately his book (”The Peoples History”) will live on in our schools and poison more generations of young minds.
Watch for the pathetic MSM bios coming tonight and tomorrow.
