Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the nation will deliver a harsh blow to the "global arrogance" on this year's anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
"The Islamic Revolution opened a window to liberty for the human race, which was trapped in the dead ends of materialism," Ahmadinejad said during a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
"If the Islamic Revolution had not occurred, liberalism and Marxism would have crushed all human dignity in their power-seeking and money-grubbing claws. Nothing would have remained of human and spiritual principles," he added.
Ahmadinejad said that in the three decades of its history, the Islamic Revolution had inspired some great developments in the world.
The Iranian president made the remarks as the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution approaches.
Iranians are expected to pour into the streets on February 11 to celebrate the occasion in public rallies across the country, as they have done annually over the past three decades.

Glad to hear he stated support for Israel and her right to defend herself..he had to be careful not to slip though. Not that I support him in anyway but if things are heating up he is the Pres.
got that right - the average person would hide under his bed and never come out if they knew what really goes on -and who’s really in charge. and how many times we’re under severe alert - that will never be announced.

As I indicated, this could just be some additional pressure on the Iranians to negotiate and to set the table for tougher sanctions, if they can ever get approved. We could have some intelligence that the Iranians are planning some sort statment that says they will not abide by any interference in their internal affairs. Or this could be a show put on by Obama to demonstrate to our allies in the region that we will not allow the Iranians to develop nuclear weapons. And hopefully dissuade Israel from attacking or for the Saudis or somone else in the region to acquire their own nuclear capability.
Or we may wish to stage a preemptive attack or have an indication that the Israelis are on the verge of one.
