The baptist minister is leading early polls over the incumbent democrat by around 10 points in my district. Have no fear, he’s as fiscally conservative as they come and was a founding member of Michigan’s “NO caucus” due to thier no new taxes stance.
It didn’t work in Illinois.
As Tip O'Neil once said "all politics is local".We must acknowledge that each state and Congressional District is different.Take Scott Brown as an example. He's already on record as being pro abortion. If he had been pro life,as many Republican Senators/Reps are,he wouldn't have stood a chance last month.Trust me.I live here.I know.
So it's likely that Brown will vote less "conservatively" than,say,Wyoming's...Tennessee's...or Georgia's Senators do but I promise you that he'll vote noticeably more reasonably than Coakley would have. And I also promise you that he was the *very* most "conservative" candidate that could have prevailed here last month.
Remember, all politics are local. So if you want Senators (or Reps) from Maine...Massachusetts....New York....California that are true "conservatives',true "Republicans" then you're gonna have to change the minds of a good number of the voters in those states/districts.
Nobody had heard of Hughes till about two weeks ago newbie.
However they did double his numbers in that time.
Michigan is a state that’s all over the place politically. We tend toward the GOP in house races with candidates that range from real Reagan conservatives to John Conyers. We seem to lean democrat in senate races obviously and the governor’s seat goes back and forth.
OK, good idea! Yesterday in Illinois Mark Kirk-a R.I.N.O., was nominated as the Republican candidate to run against Alexi Giannoulias-the perfect example of a Chicago democrat, for 0's senate seat.
According to your logic, don't vote for Kirk. Simply let the dems have the seat huh?
Sorry, but as I see it, a moderate Republican-read R.I.N.O. by many, is far superior to socialist/communist democrat every time.
Yes, NOW is the time that the real work is done. Primaries. Get the best person for the job in there.
I am betting the NRA will list her as an A also since they endorsed Childers here, knowing he was a gun grabbing liberal lefty.
As Tip O’Neil once said “all politics is local”.
And I also promise you that he was the *very* most “conservative” candidate that could have prevailed here last month.
Well said. We must nominate the most conservative candidate that can WIN the election in that district. Success will breed success with the voters. The key is to knowing how far to push in each election.
I do believe Huck resembles that remark!
I agree (whole-heartedly)!~
That’s true, but I would have hoped the Tea Party movement would have gotten behind the conservative candidate long before, just as they did Scott Brown in Massachusetts. I just don’t want to think that it’s all going to be a cakewalk to elect conservatives, then find out that we have John McCain or Graham from South Carolina or Gordon Smith from Oregon all over again. When those kind get into the Senate and the Republicans take it over, they will have that attitude that it’s all because of them and they should then run everything. That would be a disaster.
I don’t know much about Hayworth but isn’t he supposed to be not much different from McCain? What can you tell me about Hayworth?
