Sounds like LaHood wanted to strike a blow for public transportation.

It’s a shame when a government official sees a need to tell owners of recalled cars what to do.
Seems to me if you have a drivers license, own a car and watch TV - if you are in possession of an automobile that has a faulty gas pedal- you WOULDN’T DRIVE THE DAMN THING!!
And why was it even necessary for his correction: Get it fixed!!!!!
They really do think we are morons or children!

Or his ambulance-chasing friends. I just saw the first contingency-case TV ad against Toyota. Here we go, folks.

Sounds like LaHood wanted to strike a blow for public transportation. Or an effort by the UAW to kill the competition.

You’d be a fool to disregard the recall, but there must be some sane statistics here. Isn’t it more likely to blow a tire than to get the gas pedal caught? Especially if you temporarily take out the front driver’s side floor mat?

I have no idea. But if I still owned a Toyota - the first thing on my mind would be finding a dealer to fix it or trade it.

Is it the floormat or the so-called “drive-by-wire” problem??
