The IRS Is Looking For 60 12-Gauge Pump Actions Guns To Arm Its Investigators

Working for the IRS doesn't sound so wimpy anymore.
The IRS apparently has plans to buy 60 Remington Model 870 police 12 gauge pump action shotguns for the Criminal Investigation Unit.
According to the federal business government website, these guns are serious.
The Remington parkerized shotguns come fully loaded with:
* A fourteen inch barrel
* Modified choke
* Wilson Combat Ghost Ring rear sight
* XS4 Contour Bead front sight
* Knoxx Reduced Recoil Adjustable Stock
* Speedfeed ribbed black forend
We're not sure what kind of IRS duty requires this kind of combat artillery, but it sounds badass.

To think one of my childhood friends from Chicago once laughed at me when I asked if he knew any mobsters. He laughed so hard and said, “Do you think they walk around wearing signs?” Looking back, I'm beginning to think my naive question hit the mark more than was originally assessed.
Our overlords need the ability and firepower to murder us in front of or along with our families if we disagree with them.
I’m sure the government got a special deal on this purchase. They probably only paid $20,000 apiece for these guns. What does the model 870 retail for $1200 or $1300?
Now that we’ve had 10 years of real war, I’d hope some of the interest by loopy wargameboy police folks would be diminished by marking to reality, and thus we’d see less Waco SWAT, less Columbine SWAT, and less EPA SWAT such as you saw. Less SWAT break-ins into the wrong house, etc. etc.
12 guage pumpguns. Big Deal. The irs does go after some pretty shady folks. But think back, how often does the irs publicize what weapons they are buying? This story came out for a reason. Probably as a veiled threat or as a diverson story about some real hardware they are buying.
The IRS deals with the mob, probably gangs and money laundering operations. The perps are not small business operators but criminals who employ very violent people to protect their assets.
I do not have a problem with this at all.

Looks like Daewoo K2 rifles to me. Don't know what that would have to do with the IRS, though.
Both Remington and Winchester make a "reduced recoil"/"law enforcement" 00 Buckshot round that will tear the He77 out of anyone that catches it. It is like shooting a low-brass upland bird round, but pretty much turns the contents of a thorax into one big mass of bloody pulp. I wouldn't have believed it possible for the round to do that if I hadn't seen a couple of autopsy photos to prove it.
Now, watch them put Sure-fire forearm lights on these 14" barreled shotguns and then wonder why they keep having trouble with their expensive forearm lights... There is a reason that many departments specify a 15" barrel, and that is one of them: 14" barrels shorten the life of the lights, where the 15" barrels cause no problems. On 14" barrels, the head of the flashlight is forward of the muzzle.
Of course, it really isn't about the performance of the weapon for these guys... They want all of these options because it increases the CDI factor of the shotgun.

No, they killed his wife & dog because he didn't do the paperwork for making one of those. Fill out one form and pay the $200 tax and you're good to go.
Short shotguns are useful, esp. for indoor use where a >18" barrel gets kinda unwieldy.
