Toyota checking 2010 Prius brakes; mum on recall (TOYOTA COMING CLEAN ON LIBERALMOBILE)

Toyota USA says it is evaluating brake problems with the 2010 Prius gas-electric hybrid, but no decision has been made about a recall.

Company spokesman Brian Lyons says it's too soon to talk about a recall. He says the automaker is cooperating fully with a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration probe into the brake troubles.

The government is investigating reports that antilock brakes can fail momentarily on some 2010 Prius models in slippery conditions or on rough roads.

The company says it made a change in the 2010 braking system last month to correct cars in production. The company has not made a decision about cars on the road.

The U.S. government says it has received 124 reports from consumers about the Prius brakes, including four reports of crashes.

I’m guessing that data is “not available”, kinda like the global warming data.

There is a major conflict of interest here. The government is no longer an objective watch dog. The government OWNS Toyota’s competition.

I didn’t know the Prius needed any brakes.

I had a 1996 Tacoma pickup that had 300k miles on it and I sold it to a guy who drove it out to California and back. All I did was replace wear and tear items with the exception of the recall for the leaf springs. It’s still running today and was recently repainted at 400k miles. I own a Solera, Camry and a Corolla and they run like tops. I swear this is a conspiracy. I did own a 1990 Chevrolet S-10 pickup that literally fell apart at 35K miles. Luckily for me theended warranty that I purchased covered most of the repairs which cost more than what the truck was worth at the time. I sold the S-10 for the Toyota.

"Now days, you are the test rat for our various systems and products turned out in today’s market."

Not only that, but an actuary beforehand factored in the cost of x number of test 'rats falling for the bait.

Any such records before the bail bondsmen confiscated GM?

It might shed light on a chronic problems.

Approx 45,000 people die on our roads every year. That is huge. It would be useful to know the percentage of vehicles sold & driven vs. number of fatal accidents.

"These pro 0bama exec's today are taking high paying jobs with corporations for the sole purpose of destroying the company after they make enough to secure their own future. I hate to think this way but seems to be true."

Even ashes have value apparently. Sad but true.

Not sure - the problem is that Toyota’s infiltration of the American was and still is kind of a conspiracy in itself so who knows. I’m curious to see how the chips will fall, though.

These would be the same leftists who advocate Zero Population Growth so maybe these should drive their Priuses more and ignore the recall.

I am a software developer by trade, and I’ll tell you this, I NEVER EVER EVER want to operate a vehicle driven by software and not mechanical linkage for its primary systems.

Yes, Mechanical systems can fail, but software bugs are far too common in large complex systems, and the more complex the systems, the more likely you will break something else trying to fix a problem when it is found. Most are usually nothing more than annoyances, but in a vehicle, no thanks prefer not to take the chance.

I love software, and am far from being tech unsavvy or phobic, but I just don’t trust complete fly by wire systems. I’ve seen too many things go wonky between software and hardware glitches over the years. Sensor screws up and starts sending the wrong data, you can wind up in a world of hurt. Path in software never tested under 1 in a million conditions and behaves in way not anticipated... etc.

Man, if a US government conspiracy can be proved in advance of the election, that would be amazing!!! The problem is that Toyota is the preferred car of so many of the lefties which would make it seem doubtful.
