Senate Democrats unveil job-creation package

The first step will likely be a tax incentive to employers who hire new workers. Other details and the price tag remain vague.

Reporting from Washington -

Eager to show Americans that they are focused on reversing widespread unemployment, Senate Democrats on Thursday unveiled a package of legislation dedicated to spurring job growth.

"Our No. 1 emphasis is going to be on creating jobs," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).

But the political question hovering over the newfound push is whether it comes too late to quell growing voter dissatisfaction with how Democrats are handling the economy.

Ironically, the announcement of a job-creation package came on the same day that Scott Brown, the winner of a special election last month in Massachusetts, is set to be sworn in as a new Republican senator. Brown is to be sworn in at 5 p.m. EST.

That election was widely viewed by Democrats and Republicans as a referendum on the Obama administration and the Democrats' stewardship of Congress. Today, Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) said his party was paying attention.

"We heard the message of Massachusetts," Schumer said. "They said, 'Focus immediately and don't take your focus off jobs.'"

In the short term, the victim of the Democratic pivot is likely to be the controversial healthcare overhaul, which has been shelved indefinitely as House and Senate leaders attempt to figure out a way forward.

Some of you will recall that on July 8, 1947, a little over 60 years ago, witnesses claim that an unidentified flying object (UFO) with five aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep and mule ranch just outside Roswell , New Mexico . This is a well known incident that many say has long been covered up by the U.S. Air Force and other federal agencies and organizations.

However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of April 1948, nine months after that historic day, the following people were born:

Harry Reid
Hillary Rodham
John F. Kerry
William J. Clinton
Howard Dean
Nancy Pelosi
Dianne Feinstein
Charles E. Schumer
Barbara Boxer

See what happens when aliens breed with sheep and jackasses?

I certainly hope this bit of information clears up a lot of things for you. It did for me.

Hey mental idiots! GOVERNMENT DOES NOT CREATE JOBS! the private sector does and if you offer a 5000 dollar incentive to hire a new employee at 40,000 a year, yeah that makes sense. Especially if you have no work for that person because no one is spending any money. IDIOTS!!!

So with this the Democrats are either admitting their stimulus failed or that they’ve screwed around for over a year before doing something about jobs.

A six month payroll tax holiday would send the economy and jobs soaring.

The best job creation bill that could be passed and passed quickly is for Congress to pass a bill stating that they would not pass any legislation that would directly or indirectly affect small businesses for the next 5 year.

They would spend the next 5 years getting rid of laws that
are outdated and unnecessary as well as working on deficit reduction.

That would include cap and trade, health insurance, tax increases, energy taxes, Osha laws minimum wage increases and laws pertaining to unions.

That is all that is needed. You would see an instant turn around.

They could all resign. That would stimulate the economy, although sales of rifles and ammunition would probably decline. :)

Allowing businesses to keep more of the income they generate in exchange for creating jobs is somehow translated to being a "price tag". Oliphant just can't get past the fact that the government doesn't own the businesses that generate the profits they are siphoning off as taxes.

You betcha!

Our company is running lean and mean these days. The owners are uber-Conservative (pulled their ads on PBS; God Bless Them!) and when push comes to shove, I can count on them to shove back and shove hard. :)

Husband and I both have our own businesses; his is his main income; mine is a sideline. Husband will be working until 9pm or later tonight for clients; he refuses to hire on anyone other than our son (very part time) in this economic climate, and I’ll work 24/7 myself before I let the Government confiscate one more DIME from me. :)

This is ALL smoke and mirrors. The Stock Market doesn’t even believe it! All of his ‘job producing plans’ announced today and the market falls to 10K? Worst since NOVEMBER? It’s gonna open low and stay there tomorrow.

Socialist Jerk!

LOL...I wouldn’t doubt it if they tried that as well.

Sigh. I just LOL’ed at our economic destruction.

It is hard to believe. How did these people get in charge, who know NOTHING about free markets and capitalism except that they should be abolished?

How?
