A young man's attempt to play a practical joke on his mother Thursday went awry when the woman ended up in police custody and the son ended up with a bullet in his groin, police said.
The injured 21-year-old told police he thought it would be funny to frighten his mother when she returned from shopping, according to the Milwaukee Police Department. So the young man put on a ski mask about 9 p.m. and approached her at their house in the 3700 block of N. 13th Street, police said.
The 37-year-old mother drew a .357-caliber revolver from her waistband and pulled the trigger several times, hitting her son at least twice, police said. Emergency responders took the man to the hospital and police did not know his condition Friday morning.
Officers recovered a blue steel revolver with an obscured serial number from the mother, police said.
This is a rather sad story...didn’t the son know his Mom carried?
That might be a problem.
Too bad we don’t have the “hold muh beer and watch this” ping list any more...
No might about it. I’m guessing that’s why she got pinched.
I know that a missing serial number is very serious, but how serious is it for someone to buy a used gun and then it being discovered that it may have stolen 10 or 20 years before?
A practical joke?
My money says sonny boy had drug/money issues and decided Mom was an easy target. With the ski mask, he figured she’d never know who cleaned out her house. What he didn’t know was that Momma gotta gun.
Doesn’t the kid know that it might be a bad idea to scare anyone who may occasionally carry a .357 in her waistband?
I’m assuming that he knew his mom. They probably grew up together. (do the math... 37-21=16)
Heh, my mother in law takes a pistol with her everywhere. Disney World. Our house. She’s armed.
“This is a rather sad story”
The police don’t buy the story he was trying to ‘scare’ her...they think he might have been trying to rob his mother...which is the truly sad part about it.
I feel sorry for the mom; she probably feels terrible, whereas her son apparently had no compunction at all about terrifying his own mother. If she’d had a heart attack, that would have been sad.
Depends. If you are caught with stolen goods you have a problem. If you can prove you bought it in good faith you should be ok. However comma there are a$$holes in all jobs and the prosecutors and cops aren’t exempt from that problem.
Last words hey watch this.
N. 13th St. is not exactly what we’d call a good neighborhood around here. I’m not surprised that a woman shopping at night alone would be carrying.
37-21=....................
So did she get him one of the rare living Darwin awards? That would make him really unique, not just having a living Darwin award, but also having gotten it with major assistance from one of the people who put him in the gene pool in the first place.
Idiot deserved to get shot. Shot in the groin, maybe a Darwin award winner? We can hope so anyway.
This is a very sad story.
The mother should be ashamed of herself.
She needs to get down to the range and get some target practice.
We all ate out on Christmas Day at a Shoneys in Charleston, WV.
Out of seven people, five, including myself, were packing.
The next day that Shoneys got robbed.
