National Oceanic and Atmospheric Admistration (NOAA) Administrator Dr. Jane Lubchenco has released the following statement:
An epic snowstorm has the mid-Atlantic region in its cross hairs. At this time, personal safety must be first and foremost. National Weather Service forecasters have been tracking this storm for the past week and now that the storm is here it must be taken very seriously.Chris Strong, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS) Office in Sterling, Va. just emailed CWG and other media outlets the following note:

It’s now 30 degrees here just outside of the DC beltway. The snow is starting to stick to the parking lot.
One can get knocked on the head by a coconut while suffering major burns.
When these storms happen in D.C., they always tell “non-essential” employees to stay home. Oh how I wish that was a termination notice.
I’m about an hour from you in the NAS Pax River area. Hubby works for a defense contractor on base and his work got called off today. We’ve got plenty of food stocked up so we’re set for the weekend. Stay warm and safe :)
You dog, you. ;> I see the sun shines there even where it might not necessarily be used to.....

Shep was funny givng Janis D a bad time..each time he mention the incoming snow he’d make it larger..Started off with 28 inches then 30, 32 34, 44, 54....Then a Bear alert! To which Janis replied “there gonna be a lot of babies born in the NE next November”.
“epic” I love it!!!!! I want epic snow! Please!
FReepers are so honest!
Well then thanx for posting it...made me LOL all by myself!
LOL hubby said they were calling it Snowapalooza in his office yesterday. This morning the DoD fan page on facebook called it Snowmageddon. And someone I know was calling it Snowcules. I like the names. Just wish it would live up to those names. It’s still not sticking to the streets in my neck of NoVA. The grass and the cars, yes.
“....The December storm was the Snowpocalypse.
This one is Snowmaggedon.....”
LMAO! You guyz are killin me!
I hope you survive the hardship of it all.
My wife made a stock-up run yesterday afternoon. The stores were already nuts. She kinda got carried away. We have so much bread of different sorts (white bread, wheat bread, pumpernickel bread, hamburger rolls, sub rolls [two different types], etc.) that we decided to throw some in the wine cooler for now. LOL.

Epic? The ever hysterical Beltway.
You need to run out and buy 40 cases of toilet paper.
Bingo!!
Annapolis Snowpocolypse?
It’s not supposed to get bad until tonight, with some incredible potential for extreme hourly snow rates if the models are correct.....approaching 3 to 4 inches an hour in the heaviest bands.
LOL!
