Below is a transcript of Fox News Sunday's Feb. 7 interview with former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
CHRIS WALLACE, FOX NEWS HOST: Governor Palin, welcome to FOX NEWS SUNDAY.
SARAH PALIN, FORMER VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: Thank you so much.
WALLACE: How do you see yourself as a member of the Tea Party movement or a member of the Republican Party?
PALIN: Oh, I think the two are and should be even more so merging because the Tea Party movement is quite reflective of what the GOP, the planks in the platform are supposed to be about. Limited government and more freedom, more respect for equality. That's what the Tea Party movement is about, so I think that the two are much entwined and I'm happy about that.
WALLACE: So what's wrong with the Republican Party that these Tea Party activists feel they have to go outside the GOP?

SARAH PALIN On RAND PAUL, who is running for Senate in KY (as interviewed by CHRIS WALLACE on FOX NEWS SUNDAY, 2-7-10):WALLACE: You recently stirred up some controversy as you often do, even when you endorsed Rand Paul as the Senate, he's running in the Senate primary in Kentucky the GOP Senate primary. And Bill Kristol, your long-time supporter was upset with you because one of the things he pointed out, Paul wants to close Guantanamo. He wants to send the detainees back to Afghanistan. He wants to repeal the Patriot Act. He wants to do away with any federal role in either gay marriage or drug laws, leave it to the states. Why would you support a guy like that?
PALIN: Because he's a federalist and he wants the states to have more say and as we respect the 10th Amendment in our Constitution, he wants the states to have more say in a lot of these issues. But nobody is ever going to find a perfect candidate.
There are things that I don't agree with Rand Paul, and yet his domestic policies for the most part, I do agree with. He wants limited government. He wants the Feds to start taking their hands off states issues and I respect that and I'm proud to support him. Again, never finding a perfect candidate, no doubt he disagrees with me on a whole lot of issues. But proud to support him and others whom I can believe in.

I just read it - she sounded GREAT.
She’s losing the green behind her ears in media terms and I hope she runs in 2012.

I assume she’s not going to get involved in a contested primary.

Sarah is a class act and learning all the time. She is a natural leader. I only wish she runs and wins big.

Loved the interview!!! When Wallace asked a dopey question she didn't accept his premise and shoved it back in his face. Wallace backpedaled a couple times, good for her!!
She's learning , she's not buying the media's leading questions.

I loved it, too. She’s awesome. I’ve already watched it twice and I wanted to find the transcript to post and save in case she’s misquoted. You know how that goes...

I really like Sarah Palin. But I must admit that this is the position of just another mealy-mouthed politician. She says she doesn’t know JD Hayworth. Certainly though she knows of him, or could have brought to bear what it would have taken to meet with him prior to this just plain crass and crappy endorsement of McCain who personifies the term RINO. Or even just sit this one out. Just wait forMcCain to turn on her once more when the going gets rough.
And then to claim the endorsement of at best an isolationist like Rand Paul. My God. It’s like adding insult to injury. I think Sarah’s got a lot of digging to do to get out of this hole. It is very disappointing, and these may turn out to be fatal errors, as the hole will only be collapsing back in on itself.

McCain secured her endorsement when he didn’t have a challenger, except for Chris Simcox.

“”I would be willing to if I believe that it’s right for the country,” Sarah said when asked if she would run for president in 2012.”
Palin has implied before that if she didn’t like who ran, she would run herself.
