I agree. At least they were dumb enough to let people know what could happen if we let this continue. EPA has to be stopped.
The ad was brilliant! It appealed to its potential customers & generated buzz & added to the “Green Guilt” factor... That it ALSO contributed to the backlash will not hurt their sales in the slightest. This will help their sales, but, in the longer run, help move public opinion to get to the “had enough of that crap” point even faster.
Very perceptive! I was very disturbed by the ad, however after reading some of the comments am willing to consider perhaps it was just too high brow for me. I just don't get it.
Moronic green people will be the death of us yet.
Wow... as someone who lives in the woods and has lots of "critters" around, I find this disturbing. Thanks so much for that info... next time my car is in the shop, I'll ask my car repairmen about this.
The Mrs and I found that one creepy too.
I didn’t think it was funny. Funny would have been a Hummer commercial where the hummer runs over the eco police at the eco checkpoint.
Watching a guy get his head slammed into a counter, or people rousted from their homes and hot tubs, is not funny. A car company saying “buy our cars because we have kow-towed to the environmentalists and you’ll get a pass for driving in a car without a passenger” isn’t funny, it’s sad.
And I say this as the owner of two Prius cars. The commercial smacked of the “they aren’t coming for ME yet” syndrome.
And to me, that spells 'failure'.
“Audi’s attitude is clearly that the “Green Police” are not a good thing”
Yeah, but their solution is for you to buy an Audi so you are ‘kosher”.
Bottom line: “Don’t fight it”.
I agree (I had previously trashed the ad on FR last night). I found the ad to be very funny - and very disturbing - at the same time. I kept thinking: America had better not turn into a Green Police State in the near future.
And the ad did NOT make me want to buy an Audi...
I thought it was hilarious, as a sign of things to come. It ridicules the Al Gore/environmentalism is a religion idiots perfectly.
[it's like they're inside of my head]
My first response was to be p*ssed at the add. Now I agree that the add was a vain attempt to be able to be interpreted by both sides according to the individual’s own outlook.
Yes, someone who is on the right, and well aware of the extent to which the green movement wants to go, not to save the environment, but to take away freedoms, can see the add as satire. However, those who are part of the useful idiot green movement see the add as something they would support. I have talked to libs who said that they would have no problem with a representative of the federal government coming into their homes for an “energy” audit. These people would welcome the
green Police.
You know the old saying that for comedy to work it needs an element of truth in it. Yes, many will see the satire in the add, but, many will see the future that they would be more than willing to live in that add.
I think the ad is funny. It’s funny because it’s true.
buy an Audi so you are kosher
This is the first time i have ever seen Audi and kosher in the same sentance:-)
As a consumer, I’m not willing to dig much deeper. I own a BMW, and I don’t think we would see such an advertisement from them.
Are they were warning us of impending danger? Who knows. But I’m not going to fund their advertising with profits from my purchase.
Now Ford is another matter. If I worked for Ford, I’d hold my head high.
The ad was hideous beyond imagining. It was nazism. Ugh.
Wow, it sucks to be an endangered critter, doesn’t it?
