Senator Shelby ends holds on Obama nominees

Sen. Richard C. Shelby, Alabama Republican, will stop blocking Senate confirmation of about 70 government appointees nominated by President Obama, his office said.

Mr. Shelby had placed "holds" on most of Mr. Obama's nominees, delaying the Senate from acting on them, in a dispute over federal spending involving his state.

"The purpose of placing numerous holds was to get the White House's attention on two issues that are critical to our national security -- the Air Force's aerial refueling tanker acquisition and the FBI's Terrorist Device Analytical Center," Shelby spokesman Jonathan Graffeo said in a statement Monday night.

Smart move. The liar was about to make recess appointments.

This way his vile nominees will come before the senate and we’ll learn how ‘wonderful’ they are.

Well we didn't like it when the Democrats did this to us. Let me guess: this has nothing to do with pork for Shelby's home state, right?

The Dims will do anything to get their way. I am sure Shelby was appropriated in a very good way.

“nothing to do with pork for Shelby’s home state”

I agree, most certainly just an AP slur.

But judging by your past comments the odds are you were probably being sarcastic.

Uh, you guessed it the first time. It was ALL about a foreign company operating in Alabama...a little bit of home state pork. Shelby was a snake when he was a Democrat and he is still a snake as a converted Republican.
