Members of the General Synod listen to Dr Williams?s address yesterday The Archbishop of Canterbury warned yesterday that damaging infighting over women bishops and gay priests could result in a permanent split in the Anglican Communion.

Dr Rowan Williams stressed that he did not “want or relish” the prospect of division. He called on the Church of England and Anglicans worldwide to step back from a “betrayal” of God’s mission and to put the work of Christ before schism.

But he conceded that, unless Anglicans could find a way to live with their differences over women bishops and homosexual ordination, the Church would change shape and become a multi-tier communion of different levels — a schism in all but name.

In an historic and wide-ranging address to the General Synod — the Church of England’s parliament — he linked his Church’s divisions to similar battles in the secular world, such as the assisted-dying debate and the Equality Bill that is currently going through Parliament.

Who Cares? The C of E and Protestantism in general is in tatters over gay and lesbians and lack a core catechetical basis.

The C of E is already split, superficially held together by duck tape and super glue. The US church, TEC, is the primary perpetrator but England has its pervert cheering section as well. Since they don't make children anymore, and no one wants to board a sinking ship, the North American Anglican churches will die out in another generation. Already they are suing each other into insolvency. The homosexuals will buy out the great old church buildings and turn them into bath houses and bars.

Apples and oranges, I think. Homosexual conduct is defined as “intrinsically evil” in the Catholic Catechism. The small percentage of Catholic priests involved in gay behavior have either left the priesthood or been weeded out. How do you weed out gay and lesbian bishops duly ordained?

The Anglican community is a dead man walking. Just as the churches in Corinth at the time of St. Paul were examples of what not to do, the Anglican community is another example of how to kill the Spirit of God and lead people straight to Hell. We are seeing this reenacted in nearly all the Protestant mainline denominations. Their imperative is keep the institution alive. Don't leave! Schism is bad, but heresy is acceptable. We don't care about your souls, but we do love the money and numbers. Let's all play church.

A homosexual orientation is "objectively disordered". The act itself is what is deemed "intrinsically evil".

If a church split doesn't take at least 90% of the members away from the part coddling those who claim it's okay for a priest to be gay, then it wasn't much of a church to begin with. This isn't a question of political correctness; it's about whether God is in charge of our lives. As for me, I will serve the Lord [and I will assume that He will let me know if He changes his mind on sexual immorality].

But see this:

October 1986: Ratzinger publishes a document titled “On The Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons.” The letter warns of “deceitful propaganda” from pro-homosexual groups. It instructs bishops not to accept groups that “seek to undermine the teaching of the church, which are ambiguous about it, or which neglect it entirely.” The letter refers to homosexual orientation as an “intrinsic moral evil.” In the wake of the letter, many Catholic bishops bar Dignity from using church facilities.
