“4.3-magnitude earthquake hits near Sycamore”
February 10, 2010 5:24 AM | No Comments | UPDATED STORY
A mild earthquake shook northern Illinois this morning.

SNIPPET: “The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 4.3-magnitude quake at 3:59:43 a.m. centered about 5.5 miles east of Sycamore and 3.1 miles underground. The epicenter is about 45 miles west of Chicago.”

SNIPPET: “The nature of the fault activity that caused the quake was unclear, said Amy Vaughan, a geophysicist with the geological survey in Golden, Colo. Past quakes that have affected southern Illinois have been in the Wabash Valley or New Madrid seismic zones.

The fault systems in northern Illinois are not as well understood as those in other regions where earthquakes are more common, and more investigation will be needed to determine the cause of this morning’s temblor, Vaughan said.”

4.3? Child’s play.

But 50 miles from Chicago, home of the Corruter-in-Chief and the wellspring from whence his political power arose? Perhaps it’s a warning of electoral shake-up.

Lots of strange things have happened that have negatively impacted the rats. Wexler quit, another guy abandoned ship and changed parties to become a pub, Teddy died and got replaced with a pub. Now Murtha has kicked the bucket and will most certainly be replaced with a pub.

Maybe the Big Guy upstairs is trying to tell the rats something.

Freaky Stuff - I was trying to figure out what fault it was on. I know the Wabash Valley & New Madrid Zones as I am in between the both of them. The Wabash Valley was the one that kicked the 5.4 out in 2008.

I live on the Gulf Coast of Florida. However, I'm in Downers for a couple of months, having spent the holidays with my family. I'm an Illinois native, being born and raised in Oak Park which is, as you know, a western Chicago suburb and the home of Ernest Hemingway and Bob Newhart.

I remember another earthquake in these parts a couple decades ago. I was ironing and noticed the potted palm was swaying. Then the floor seemed to move in some weird way and a flash of nausea swept over me. I thought I was having a stroke or sumpin', LOL.

Folks in the quake area get ready for your quake insurance premiums to go up.
Ours jumped up after the 5.4 quake on the Wabash Valley fault in Southern IL/Indiana that happened in 2008.

We felt it here up north, near Lake Geneva WI. That’s about 60 miles from DeKalb. Rattled the doors.
