Poll: 71% say Palin's unqualified to be president By Eric Zimmermann - 02/11/10 11:45 AM ET

Almost three quarters of Americans, including half of Republicans, think Sarah Palin is not qualified to serve as president, according to a new Washington Post/ABC poll.

The poll also found Palin's approval rating at a new low, with just 37% holding a favorable opinion of her. Meanwhile, 55% of respondents have an unfavorable opinion of the former Alaska Governor.

A full 71% of respodnents, including 51% of Republcians, say Palin is not ready to occupy the White House. Palin has said it would be "absurd not to consider" a 2012 bid against President Obama.

Exactly two-thirds of independents say Palin's not qualified, along with an overhwelming 91% of Democrats.

Meanwhile, the Tea Party movement receives tepid approval from the public. 35% have a favorable view of the movement, with 40% holding an unfavorable view. A slim plurality, 45%-36%, say they agree at least somewhat with the Tea Party's positions.

If it were true, they wouldn’t be spending all their time pushing propaganda.

Of course I’ll back her - I’m just not sure she can win...unfortunately, she was “brought out” too early and has been “Dan Quayled” by the MSM...

This is a beltway poll. They don’t need to say his name. I’m open to any good solid conservative, but other than Jim DeMint who has been vocal, where are they?

lonestar said, “Palin is more qualified and experienced than what is POTUS today!” You're right, she is. Simply more qualified is not enough.

codetoad said, “If she were an ugly woman they wouldn't say that.” You're right, the Governor is easy on the eyes which is never a bad thing, but hardly a qualifier for any but the “American Idol” crowd.

wtc911 said: “Yep. Quitting halfway through is a deal breaker for all but the most ardent admirers. And those folks will never understand that the average American will see it as weakness, not political savvy.” I think her move was political suicide, but was the only choice she could make when the long knives came out. She did what she did. Get over it. When your loved ones are at risk, you do what you can to protect them. We're not dealing with nice people, folks. They play for keeps.

fixitguy said, ‘I can guarantee her learning curve will be nowhere near as long and painful as Obama’s.” You presume too much, sir. You assume the President is interested in “learning”. Au contraire, he's not interested in ANYthing America is selling. He wants a do-over HIS way.

Finally, I say this. Governor Palin is an amazing woman. The reason she doesn't appeal to many is because they have realized what being taken by an “image” has gotten them. They may only say it in the privacy of their bedrooms, under the covers with the lights out, but they do know they've bought a pig in a poke. There is that old saying, “Do it to me once, shame on you. Do it to me twice, shame on me.”

Next, I'm sick and tired of hearing the tea party people, all dressed up in their overalls and “Don't Tread on Me” shirts stick it to those of us who wear the suits, slacks and polos. It's not what we wear that makes us good or bad people, it's what we hold dear. You can love the Constitution as much in business or business casual dress with a haircut as you can in overalls, long hair and a T-shirt. Heck, I got through Billy Carter, Bubba Clinton and GW’s less than polished manners, I certainly wouldn't hold the fact that someone has them against them, either.

I don't care if she wears a mini-skirt, pops her gum, bobbles her head and wears stilettos, or writes crib notes on her hand — it's what's between her ears that matters. Manners can be fixed, stupid can't.

she had $500,000 of legal bills in 6 months on a 175k/year salary

how many people would keep such a job?

i understand other arguments against her, she’s not a perfect candidate, but this one about her resignation is preposterous. if you give the Dims a pass, they will sue every candidate they can, so you will are much less likely get a real conservative

Mitt-likeable enough on TV but let’s face it, flip-flopper or maybe just like most real world CEOs I have known who say and do what they have to to keep their job. Admirable when they change to what conservatives want/

I don’t know if SP can do it or not but why I hope she can—she will tell the truth about budget and fiscal issues as well as national security. Mitt, Newt will not about budget; they will have to screw the middle class to shut up the libtards and their wards and keep their banker friends rich, the latter is ok but not at expense of middle class.
SP earns BIG on trust, Mitt and Newt dont

So, the poll is equally inaccurate on the other issues polled?”

The poll is garbage.

Using your logic then, I guess the public is actually for Obamacare, because this poll clearly states that they aren't.”

Oh puleeze!
Don't fall for ABC's tricks.
Listen, while Rasmussen has Republicans ahead of the Democrats on the generic poll by a massive 8 points, and has had the Republicans ahead by at least 5 points for over 6 months, ABC is only now coming out with a poll that only has the Repubicans and the Democrats tied in the generic congressional polls, despite the GOP US Senate candidates clobbering the Democratic Party candidates and incumbents in Arkansas, Nevada, Delaware, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and even Indiana in nearly every poll right now. What planet is ABC living on? ABC's polls are as fraudulent as they come.:

Yep. First the media says they think she is an irrelevant moron, then they do polls on her non stop. They are scared to DEATH of her. They know she can win..who were polled, MSNBC and CNN viewers..DUH of course they don’t like her. I think she is 10000 percent qualified to be President. Obama has set the standard so low I think I could win in 2012

Don't you ever get tired of spewing out the same old discredited garbage on every single Palin thread?
Have you considered getting a real life for a change?

After talking to my daughter and some of her friends in their 20's, I believe these numbers. Nearly all of them said that were voting for the Republican in the next election since Obama has fizzled out. When I mentioned Palin, they all said that they could never vote for her as she is too dumb.

I think they have been influenced by Jon Stewart beyond repair.

She may be. Our country must drill, baby, drill and become energy independent. We can; we have the resources. We need a leader. Sarah has had her way with oil companies, environmentalist and crooked politicians, some of whom are currently wearing orange as guests of the state. These are the same critters that must be dealt with now. She may, infact, be uniquely qualified and just what the doctor ordered.

If she runs she will be fighting off the media and political hack attacks while to trying and run a campaign at the same time. Much like she did when campaigning for VP and trying to govern. It isn’t fair but just look at the attacks coming on the heels of her speech. She is conservative and stands for everything we believe in — and that’s what we want, but if she can’t bring in a lot of independents, it will be almost impossible to win. The reason Scott Brown won is because of independents. The reason Zero is so low in the polls is because independents are deserting him. Do conservatives have the numbers to win without independents? Does anyone know the stats?

That’s not enough sampling data to stake a claim.

How do they get 51% for repub’s?

That’s 11.22 people!

There is no “Palin MAY have been Quayled” about it.
She HASN'T. Period.

If you like, I can give you a list of reasons why she has NOT been Quayled. They have been repeatedly produced on the Palin threads on FR.

Doesn’t really matter, because she isn’t running. Her name is not yet on any ballot.
