Debra Medina implodes on Glenn Beck's show
Kansas City Star ^ | 2/11/10 | By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist

Medina is facing off in a GOP primary with Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Medina's absurd comments to Beck about U.S. government involvement in 9/11 included this gem:

"I don’t have all of the evidence there, Glenn, so I’m not in a place, I have not been out publicly questioning that. I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard, there are some very good arguments and I think the American people have not seen all the evidence there, so I have not taken a position on that."

Perry and Hutchinson immediately ripped Medina for such ignorant comments

This guy tore into Gov. Palin in 08.

All I can say is that Debra Medina is no Sarah Palin.

Her response was pathetic backpedal by a politican who committed campaign suicide this morning. Beck’s question should not have required much thought to craft a proper response ...

“No.”

... how hard is that?

The headlines are indicative ...

- Debra Medina Self-Destructs on Glenn Beck Radio Show (Christian Science Monitor)
- Medina refuses to say whether 9/11 was an inside job;
(Houston Chronicle)
- Medina sabotages her campaign with 9/11 answer
(Dallas Morning News (blog))
- Medina questions whether US government was involved in 9/11 attacks (CBS Local Houston)

She’s done. And, in reality, the candidate that some conservatives adored, and others hoped was the real-deal, never really existed. She was always a nutjob ... Beck just exposed her.

Medina Campaign Responds to Glenn Beck Interview

by Debra Medina on Feb 11, 2010

I was asked a question on the Glenn Beck show today regarding my thoughts on the so-called 9/11 truth movement. I have never been involved with the 9/11 truth movement, and there is no doubt in my mind that Muslim terrorists flew planes into those buildings on 9/11. I have not seen any evidence nor have I ever believed that our government was involved or directed those individuals in any way. No one can deny that the events on 9/11 were a tragedy for all Americans and especially those families who lost loved ones.

The question surprised me because it’s not relevant to this race or the issues facing Texans. This campaign has always been about private property rights and state sovereignty. It is focused on the issues facing Texans. It is not a vehicle for the 9-11 truth movement or any other group.

The real underlying question here, though, is whether or not people have the right to question our government. I think the fact that people are even asking questions on this level gets to the incredible distrust career politicians have fostered by so clearly taking their direction from special interests instead of the people, whether it’s Rick Perry and his HPV mandate or Kay Hutchison and voting for the bank bailout. It is absolutely the right and duty of a free people to question their government. Texas does not need another politician who tells you what you want to hear, then violates your liberties and steals your property anyway. I fully expect to be questioned and to be held accountable as Governor, and that’s the underlying issue here: should people be questioning their government. And the answer is yes, they should be

Subject matter notwithstanding, the guy who wrote this shouldn’t even be in our country, let alone opining for a newspaper.

This is why you always keep a loaded weapon pointed up and down range. Never let a weapon that is loaded and cocked hang down loosely at your side. Now she needs a new pair of shoes.

Medina may be the best campaign staffer Perry has ... she gift-wrapped a victory. This thing’s a cakewalk from here on. Perry will get about half of her supporters the second they hear this, and half-again once the rest realize its a lost cause.

No, rather the “we despise Ron Paul and Truthers” campaign.

It’s been in effect since at least 2001 when we were attacked by terrorists and not our own government.

I will never understand Truthers.

They act as if the government being involved is some kind of neat story that justifies them in their opposition to the government.

If I believed the government, or individuals within the government, were involved, I’d be pushing for a full-scale investigation, with prosecution and execution of all those involved, from GWB on down, for treason and mass murder.

But I don’t. No government is competent enough to keep such a secret, anyway.

And another one bites the dust. Fine with me. We don’t need this kind of nonsense out there representing Republicans.

Medina is not the sophisticated politician that Rick and Kay are. This question came out of the blue....nothing to do with the campaign. Of course she was taken back by the question. She thought she was going to be interviewed about her policies and what she would do if elected Governor. Beck was a jerk!!

Sounds like she is weaseling to avoid alienating her nutter base.

Which part of this is unclear, Perrybots?

I’m sure this was a set up for Perry so that he could win without a runoff. Hope Medina keeps her support.
