First, [he] would have gathered [his] entire national-security team, not just the Justice Department ... Second, assuming Abdulmutallab had been designated as an enemy combatant, the interrogators would have thoroughly interrogated him to learn if he had information that could prevent a future attack. ... Third, once they were satisfied that he had no additional intelligence to provide, he would have been transferred for prosecution to either the civilian or the military system. ... But dont take our word for it. Lets briefly review what the Bush administration actually did after 9/11.

Gee, Dana must have watched episodes of NCIS!
Oh, wait a minute......
The fact is this administration doesn’t give a damn about National Security which completely covers why they do what they do.
I’m sure this administration was caught off-guard by the fact that this guy was one of the only people on the planet who thought he’d be damaging Detroit by blowing up a plane over it.
SNIPPET from the link in post no. 1:
"The Obama administration and its defenders fall back on the fact that the Bush administration chose not to designate all the suspected terrorists it captured as enemy combatants. But they neglect to mention that the Bush administration had a well-defined and active process that included the military, the intelligence services, and law enforcement for deciding which suspects should be sent to which system. The Obama administration, by contrast, sent a non-citizen whod been caught red-handed trying to blow up a plane and who declared his allegiance to al-Qaeda before being Mirandized to the civilian system without even consulting the intelligence services.
In the wake of 9/11, the Bush administration took an aggressive approach to fighting the War on Terror. In many instances the courts pushed back, but at the end of the day, the law on the books is that a suspected al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist who is captured in the United States may be detained as an enemy combatant for purposes of interrogation."
I stand corrected!
:)
There are some guys who actually deserve to be handed over to Lynndie England.
LOL!
The military tribunals weren’t in place for a very long time...and they were being fought every step of the way by the Dems....
And there was no hurry. I say that as a 9/11 family member.
I understand that some are angry that KSM et al have not been prosecuted and executed 8 and 1/2 years later. Obama either does not get our first priority must be learning all we can to stop further attacks. I get it.
If KSM dies an old man of natural causes in a detention cell, so be it; others WILL LIVE because of what President G.W. Bush had the guts to do. I salute him and thank him.
