Although Barack Obama and other Democrats touted the $787 billion stimulus package as a way to create green jobs that would put Americans back to work, new reports show the spending package has mostly created green jobs for foreign workers.
U.S. Department of Energy statistics show 79 percent of the $2.1 billion in stimulus money allocated for wind energy has been paid to foreign manufacturers.
The Spanish company Iberdrola has received $443 million; the Portuguese company EDP has received $229 million; and the British company Terra Firma, which bought a large wind farm in western Pennsylvania, received $42 million.
Analysts worry the stimulus funds will also help create manufacturing jobs in China, and a Texas consortium’s plans to build a wind farm that primarily will rely on Chinese-made turbines using $450 million in stimulus money underscores this fear

Don’t forget....thanks to COMMUNIST and former CZAR Van Jones, some stimulus money DID go to companies who are using prisoners to fill new green jobs.
“Take the case of United Solar Ovonic, a Michigan-based company which manufactures solar panels. The company laid off some 80 employees from its Greenville plant in New York state as those jobs now will be given to some 160 prisoners from Otisville, NY.
If you think that making green jobs for those in orange jumpsuits is unusual, think again. Many companies rely on prison labor instead of hiring law-abiding citizens. There are many advantages.
To start with, prisoners only earn 23 cents to $1.15 per hour. Nice way to skirt minimum wage laws. But the real kicker is that our friends in the federal government have enacted laws mandating sourcing priorities for federal agencies to make purchases from the F.P.I., the Federal Prison Industries. Even if FPI’s prices are higher, or if its products are lower quality, government agencies must buy from FPI.
FPI produces a wide range of products and services, ranging from furniture, textiles, and now solar panels. FPI plans to move more aggressively into the renewable energy sector. Attempts by lawmakers to end the FPI mandate failed in 2003 and 2006 in the Senate.
So until the law is changed, if you’re looking for work, get yourself in prison. Wages plus room and board, access to exercise equipment and loads of interesting social opportunities. Oh, what fun.”
“Some of the river’s signs needed to be replaced, so the Army Corps dipped into its pot of federal stimulus funds. It bought $143,000 worth of signs from a company called Unicor.
But Unicor’s not your typical sign company. It’s run by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and uses inmates to do its work. Unicor pays inmates an average of 93 cents an hour to make everything from office furniture to solar panels to signs. All told, Unicor has almost $900,000 in stimulus contracts so far.”....
